Haircut help?

I really need a new haircut. I’ve had the same thing for what seems like years. I’ve never had short hair, but not against it. Just wanted to get some opinions before I get it cut.

I just know it's bad - case in point:

I can't fix everything, but I can at least fix my hair. Buzz it? Taper? I have no idea...

You've kept that for years? It should have died when you were 16ish, maybe till you were 20. :/

Try a fringe cut. The sides are short (ask for a 3 with clippers blended in to a 6-8 ), with a longer top. The top should be cut by hand with a little texturizing put in to it so it has better body (easier to style and manage). For the styling, you can spike it, make it messy, or comb it back for a more Joseph Gordon-Levitt look.

Fringe cut below.

Try short as Firebrand said. You can do a lot with short hair... people don't realize that.

You could even try buzzing your sides short and keeping length on top if you're that attached to your swoop. I would tell you to do something that's more age appropriate though. Nothing is worse than seeing someone who looks stuck in the wrong era.

Depends on the look you ultimately want.

Nah I'm not attached to anything, I actually feel like it's quite bad. I'm just torn between something like:

or something like this:

That's what I thought of on my own, open to other ideas. Not sure, I probably have to cut and lost some body fat for option 1 buzz.

I cut my own hair with a buzzer and some clippers. It's pretty easy to do, granted I'm not trying to style my hair like some folks do.
I'm lazy when it comes to hair and I swim, so I avoid any type of haircut that requires product to look decent.

With that being said, try what Firebrand suggested or what I do is:

#1 on the sides, starting right above my ear and to the right.
#2 on the sides starting on the above my ear and to the left.
#2 on my lower back of the head.
#3 on the upper back of my head.

Then I literally just grab my hair at the top and cut whatever I feel is too long until it all looks blended in.

It's summer time! Short hair ftw.

I'm not sure if you're a troll or not due to that "lose body fat" bullshit you just posted since your pictures are clearly of a fit guy... but you can cut your hair to look like option 2, and if you don't care for it, go extreme for option 1... but play with it as you cut it shorter than option 2.

No, not a troll at all. I lose fat in my body first, face last. I feel jealous of guys that look good with buzzed hair - paranoid I'll look a bit too pudgy or something. If I knew it would look good, I'd probably just do that.

Thanks. That's one a good-looking cut, just (hard to believe) actually not too different from what I have now. except a bit shorter on the sides/back. I've tried that one, and I lack the styling discipline - it just kinda morphs back into what it was before...

no

noooooooooo

Don't listen to him, some people have better head shapes than others (yes this is very much a factor) so it works better on some people than it does on others.

Wow, I like this style, but my hairstylists always tell me that those short sides won't grow out well for my hair type. :/

I'm glad someone else said what we were all thinking... but yeah, nix the bieber haircut.

I dont know if your hair can pull off the non buzzed picture you linked... thats a lot of natural shape/wave and your hair looks pretty flat. IMO buzz it, or go really short and just 'tussle' it on the top/front.

Quiffs are really in at the minute and this is a really versatile haircut because you can wear it up like the picture or down if you want a more 'indie' look (the front will be long enough to style a sweeping fringe).

Just pick one and GO FOR IT... the good thing is HAIR GROWS BACK. In one month you can change it again if you didnt like it. I would go for the #2 on the sides, trim up the top look that as mentioned a few times.

It is just hair, cut it for crying out loud.

From your pic ... your hair look fairly fine, and you have to good head shape, so I think you would probably really look great in really short hair ... anyway if you decide you don't like it .. it'll grow back and until then you can wear a hat

it is very nice hair, very full and hangs very straight. I would just get them to clean it up make it a little more adult and preppy. You kinda look like you need to be the front man for a band from the early 2000's.
