What are your favorite games? And I don't mean online games or console games, I mean card or board games where you actually sit at a table with your friends and have fun.

I've been playing Dominion a ton recently, but I also love Ticket to Ride, Agricola, 7 Wonders, Carcassonne, Forbidden Island, Elder Sign, Powergrid, Fluxx, Quiddler, Guillotine, and lots of others.

For some reason, I really don't like Settlers. I'm not sure what's up with that.

Of course, Spades and Hearts are great. I also like Oh Hell, which is a similar trump type game.

I haven't played Risk since I was a kid. I like buying old board games for a buck or two at the local flea market - maybe I should look for a copy.

We recently bought this game and played it several times. It was surprisingly fun!

Have you ever heard of Hand & Foot?

It's kind of like spades but waaay more complicated. You play in two teams of two, using four decks of cards, and your partner and you work together to make "books."

I grew up playing it with my cousins, and we still break out the cards on holidays sometimes.

Another family favorite is Spoons, which is a lot of fast-paced fun.icon_biggrin.gif

and my probably number 1 fave as of recent:
    CARDS AGAINST HUMANITY
This game caused a 15 minute laughing spell due to a combination of cards that resulted. It's awesome.

Thanks for the great suggestions, guys! Keep 'em coming!

Pandemic looks fun, gotta try that one.

I also really like Cards Against Humanity! It's a really fun party game, so long as your friends are willing to go out on a limb with their answers.

Annnnnd.....I can't believe someone actually MOVED this post from the "All Things Gay" section where I posted it, to "Arts & Entertainment." Is someone actually MODERATING this site all of a sudden?

    I play Magic.
I've wanted to get Dominion and Forbidden Island for a while now, but I haven't yet. They look really fun!
52-card deck games I play often are Spoons, BS, 13, and Mao.

Even though I'd rather play a computer/console game at every opportunity, I will say my favourite card game is Spit.

I agree...cribbage is the best card game of all time followed by hearts and euchre.

As for board games: Settlers of Catan, Risk, Monopoly, Parcheesi, Life and this really obscure French game called Jeu d' Affaires. It was so cool....you had to build all these oil wells, transport the oil to a port, buy boats and ship the oil overseas to make dollars instead of francs to win.....

I would love to learn how to play bridge, but never have. My grandmother was a grand master many times over. My partner's and my mother were both social players - the one time we were all together before my MIL passed we tried to get the two of them to teach us. They first got frustrated, then got the giggles. So we never learned anything.

    Bizarro saidMonopoly card game

I'd forgotten about that one. It is pretty fun. Not much like actual monopoly other than using some of the same names, but it's a good game in its own right.

Absolute favorite, no question, hands down, can play for hours:

    B R I D G E

    grin!

Prefer rubber bridge to duplicate -- more social. A deck of cards is all that is needed (plus a second deck to shuffle for the next round of play.)

Cribbage is also a very fun game for two people, and a cribbage board is very portable.
