Today at work I was dicing potatoes for my prep & as I was drawing my knife across the taters the knife slipped and took off a chunk of my tumb with some nail on it... icon_redface.gif

    Photobucket

The slicing off part didn't really hurt, but the risening off almost put me to tears. Every time the nurse rinsed off my thumb my left arm went completely numb do to the pain.

What's the worst injury you've ever had?

Ouch hope that your okay man. As for my injury when i was in the 3rd grade i was sliding on a wooden slide when a big splinter chuck got caught into my ass.

I was rushed to the emergency room where i had to be layed on the operating table and had the splinter surgically removed. It fucking hurt like hell lol I think i almost died right there!!!

Swinging on a voilleyball pole in 6th grade. Pole came unscrewed, fell with me under it, and knocked my four front teeth up into the bone. The word "pain" doesn't even begin to describe it. It woulda been less painful to have my arm ripped off with wire pliers.

Owww that does hurt. I remember I couldn't remove the cork from my flute's headjoint,so I decided to suck it out thinking it would come out gentley. I was wrong,it popped me in the upper lip leaving a giant purple bump lol.

    Thanks! icon_biggrin.gif

Dropped my motorcycle going around a fast curve down a hill, I slid forever while wearing only shorts and a T-shirt. Thank gawd I managed to stay pancaked on my stomach by making an X with my arms & legs and didn't tumble. The slide was painful enough, but once I came to rest the agony that hit me a moment later was like being set on fire.

That was the most painful, but the injuries were superficial scrapes and minor lacerations, no broken bones. The worst injury was 18 months later, also from a motorcycle. That time it was a collision between my bike and my best friend's, parts of his bike going through me, a few broken bones, and when his front tire rode over my face my teeth went through my lip, my eyeglasses shattered into my face and one eyelid was partly torn away. I was lucky not to lose my sight.

Fortunately I had a concussion that caused unconsciousness, and memory loss, so that I had no memory of pain. When I awoke in the hospital the next day most of the pain was controlled by the meds, and if I lay still I didn't feel too much.

I kind of had the same thing happen, but on my heel. I stepped on a hook and it ripped a thick chunk of flesh out.

I've had two scary close calls with a kitchen knife. Fortunately I never severed a digit or had to get stitches. Both times were from particularly stupid incidents. They weren't at all painful, but they sure were bloody as hell.

Then try riding a motorcyclist, instead. icon_wink.gif

Actually my motorcycle accidents never frightened me from riding. But if I ever had become scared I would have stopped riding immediately, because that's a sure-fire formula for having even more accidents. If you can't ride relaxed and confident then don't ride at all.

Now only if we can get the scared drivers to think the same way. The roads would be much safer. icon_lol.gif

It's a toss up. One time in first grade I jumped off the top of the monkey bars while playing Mario Bros with some school chums (I was Yoshi and had just eaten one of the flying shells, I had no choice) and OF COURSE landed in the worst possible way. Broke my arm. It would've been fine but I decided not to let anyone know until later that night just before going to bed. It was my first time in a crowded ER in the middle of the night.

The only other time I've been seriously injured wasn't that long ago. I was drinking with my friends (real party animals we were) and we were driving around in this topless jeep. I got the AWESOME idea to climb all the way around the outside of the vehicle while we were driving. We weren't going very fast, it was a neighborhood street. Anyways, right as we were about to pull into the house the driver, in an ultimate dick move, quickly taps the brakes, I go flying off the back of the jeep onto the road and do a unsupervised, Hollywood stuntman roll on the pavement. I felt my bones crunch. Once again, I insisted I was fine and went on with the night. The absolute worst part of that was that every time I'd move my right arm even slightly I could feel the broken pieces of my collar bone grind against each other. I finally went to the ER. Told them it was a skateboarding accident. Got 2 weeks off work and prescription drugs for that one. I ended up graduating in a sling, and it sucked.

I took out the trash when I was 12 and there was a broken piece of a plate in the trash bag and it poked through the bag and stabbed me in the leg. it was crazy.

i broke my back a few years ago, that sucked.

i was squatting, trying to break my pb, got 220kgs down for one rep went for a second and hit the hooks on the squat rack on the way up! the bar rolled down my back and cracked my L1 and 2 and ruined my back. i was partially paralised for about a month then spent 7 months in physio really intense, lukily my ex is a physiotherapist and we worked all day evry day in the pool. i was lucky and unlucky cause, my lower lats and core werent so developed at the time i would have been much much worse off, but then if i wasnt as strong i wouldnt have been liftin so much weight in the first place....

anyways stil on painkillers, sciatica suuuuuuuucks icon_cry.gif
and the moral of the story is....

    never try anything difficult!

In a spin class, working hard, feeling good, was up in a jog when the pedal broke off and flew across the room...meanwhile the shaft that was attached to the pedal ripped into my shin tearing 10cm up my shin and i didn't really realize that it had happened at first until the instructor came over and i saw my flesh torn open!!! almost fainted...wrapped up my leg in the towel and gauze until paramedics arrived, kind of embarrassing being taken out of the gym on a stretcher, my first time in an ambulance! hahah
got 15 stitches, time off work and shit load of drugs cuz that fucking hurt!!!
