"Nevertheless, according to the KOAT-TV report, the school is slated to receive more than $60,000 in federal tax dollars this school year."

Would you rather have it go to school and be treated differently and with hate cuz of his two dads?

^Bingo.

Plus, why send your kid to a school like that. What's next, offering ham to a Hassidic Jew?

I think the object here is to stop the hate, not to surrender to it and run away. That means the haters and the homophobes win.

That, and our tax dollars shouldn't be available to those institutions who openly discriminate.

Really dude....that's so weak. You should be able to come up with your own analogies (about blacks eating at "white" diners; muslims not going to airports; whatever) to see how stupid that statement is.

It's a Christian school, what did the couple expect?
Not all Christian organizations hate gays.

In fact, NO Christian organizations hate gays. Only hate groups with tax-exempt status do that.

The argument won't convince some here. Sad as it seems, I've recently seen Rosa Parks and the boycott of city buses that followed criticized here in the RJ threads.

It is extremely disappointing that Rosa Parks and the city 'bus boycott would be criticized here. As gay men, we have for decades suffered from horrible discrimination. Considering that, we should be extra careful to support fair treatment for others and oppose unfair discrimination wherever it is found, else we have no right to complain when we face discrimination against us.

That's just sad. Think of how the 3-year-old and other children who have been rejected due to unfair discrimination feel towards it. They must feel like they're not wanted or accepted in society and that there's no one who wants them. It's this kind of treatment that can pose health and psychological risks and the development of destructive behavior. It's really sad when you think about it.

Yes, CLEARLY, that was the intent of this thread: not to highlight an instance of hate and homophobia, but to argue that these parents should sent their child to a school where he *might* be treated differently. Clearly.

(This site reminds me every day that enemies of reason and freedom are not only OUTSIDE the gay community.)

A male couple I know has two adopted daughters. The Mormon family across the street from them will not let their children play with the adopted daughters since the adoptive parents are gay.

A major part of Christianity is supposed to be social justice and fairness. It doesn't seem to occur to some "Christians" (as opposed to Christians) that such discrimination is unfair, unjust, and therefore unChristian.

This would NEVER happen in an Episcopal or Quaker school. Don't paint all churches with the same broad brush; that's what the haters do.
