I've often heard in media that gays are "among us" and I laugh to myself and feel that they have no idea. But then I wonder, if there are any guys that are known for being in front of a camera, who are gay. I am not talking about singers, I am talking about those who we see in London; on the World's Stage.

I feel it would be kinda cool, to meet someone who managed to reach such a high position of professional sports. I want to meet someone on here who I would be able to see at the Olyimic games, the moment I turn on the TV.

What do you guys think? Am I being naive?

I'm sure a few are on RJ...as no-pic no-info profiles looking for hookups.

But most of them are probably on Grindr, Scruff, and a4a instead, since those sites are much better for hookups than RJ.

Great topic OP - be interesting to see if anyone 'outs' themselves so to speak. Unfortunately though I think what Paul said is the most likely scenario

I'll bet my next paycheck (4 figures) that he has no pic and no info on his profile.

All I know is that I have one new atheletic hero who is habitating the realm of Michael Jordan right now, a white American boy named Michael Phelps! This man has set a record that has never been set in Olympic history! Do you people understand how extraordinary that is? I don't care what color he is, this Michael Phelps guy is a warrior, a champion of the first order! I want to collect everything I can regarding this guy's career in the Olympics. Oh my God, a white American boy has my dick hard for his atheletic awesomeness! Damn! I'm sorry, I'm too emotional right now. I just can't contain my respect for this guy right now. He is awesome! Michael Phelps. Nice.

So I doubt there are any current and out Olympians on RJ, but how about former Olympians? Did any of you compete at one of the previous Olympics? Which one, which sport? How did you do?

I know a bunch of Olympic kayakers, including a gold medalist, but none of them are gay. The funny thing about this thread is that spending that much of your time training to get to that level of your sport, even a small sport like kayaking, takes so much time that you're totally socially inept in real life. Don't take me wrong, I'm as socially inept as anyone, but it's just funny how we think these guys have the world at their feet but all they really do is sleep, eat and train. They have no idea how to talk to people or do normal fun things that aren't related to their sports. They're still super nice, good people - just not the rock stars you might imagine.

Matthew Mitchum, a diver from Australia is out, but I don't think he has a profile on RJ.

As for merely being in front of the cameras, Jack Mackenroth who was on Project Runway has a profile on here. And hey, I've been on TV before. icon_lol.gif

I have a dear friend out in the north west that was on the 1960 U.S. olympic ski team. She still remembers every detail of it from walking in the opening ceromonies to the closing. I never get tired of hearing her talk about it.

And why is it that you feel they need to be closeted?

Gay Olympians are not a recent phenomenon and like an iceberg, the ones you know are gay are only a small percentage of the total.

I seriously doubt if any of these guys are/were on RJ, but besides already mentioned Matthew Mitcham, diver Greg Louganis won 2 gold medals for diving. Skater Johnny Weir won a bunch of competitions, but never made the Olympic team - he is supposedly going to try to be in the 2014 games. Skater John Curry who won in 1976 is rumored to have had a long affair with Alan Bates. He died of AIDS.

No, Johnny Weir was most definitely in the 2010 Olympics. It was kind of hard to miss him...

I think the biggest athlete on RJ (who is open) is that soccer player from Sweden, and I don't think he played in the Olympics.
