My radio in the morning usually goes off to NPR. And my eyes opened widely (from a driftingly heavy slumber) upon hearing of his passing. I can't say I followed his work closely, like his TV show. But when I did see him on talk shows -- like one time on Jay Leno -- Bernie was simply hysterical!! There he was, I remember, sitting next to Jay, and in his cool, quasi-serious manner, recounting some hilarious event that happened to him at the time. The audience was laughing uncontrollably as was Jay (Jay could barely speak). And I remember laughing very hard, too, on my couch that night.

Truly, Bernie Mac's sudden passing is very sad news.

    Very sad...
    He was only 50
so I suspect that there was some underlying chronic illness like diabetes or something else
it's very rare that someone so young will succumb to simple pneumonia

He had liver problems, not diabetes.

Pneumonia? Hmm. I think there may be something we're not being told.
