The trial of Abd al Rahim al Nashiri, a Saudi national who is accused of the planning of the attack on the U.S.S. Cole in Yemen in 2000 is in recess and the families of the victims have returned to the U.S. I met with the mother of a sailor, who was in the engine room of the Cole when a vessel that had pulled alongside the Cole detonated, shortly after 12 noon today.

The soldier’s mother was aghast that President Obama had written her to inquire as to whether she was opposed to a pardon for Abd al Rahim al Nashiri. Families within the military community feel President Obama is looking for cover in this election year as he needs to drum up support within the Muslim community but does not want this to become an all-out press war should he acquit Abd al Rahim al Nashiri.

The President wrote the letter? Oh plzzz. Now do some research and tell us who wrote the letter, or better yet, use FOIA to get a copy of the letter.
