For the first time in history - one of our political parties will include a plank endorsing same sex marriage.

This is a huge leap forward in achieving equal rights for gay Americans.

The contrast could not be more clear.
You can vote for someone who is in favor of same sex marriage or you can vote for someone who is opposed and doesnt even approve of civil unions.

Even a year or two ago I doubted that this would happen in 2012.

On gay rights we're seeing real CHANGE happening today.

This is fantastic news!!! If they follow through, this will be the game changing move for the Gay political movement. icon_biggrin.gif

I can't wait for the traitorous, hypocritical, Gay republican cancers that are on this site to voice their opposition. And tell us all how they will continue to vote for the anti-Gay party.

Come on CuriousJock, SouthBeach, Jockfever, and the rest of your despicable ilk......let's hear it. Show your traitorous true colors once more! icon_mad.gif

Who knew that all they ever had to do was stand up for their balls to finally drop?

One party finally grows a set. Good for us.

[quote][cite]WarmJock said[/cite]And it took them so long why?

And they didn't even try to legislate gay marriage on the Federal level when their caucus controlled BOTH houses of Congress during the first two years of Obama's term because?

Because the Democrats didn't have enough votes to get it passed against the total opposition of the conservatives.

And because President Obama was busy working on cleaning up all the epic messes left behind by Bush.

So go ahead and celebrate MORE lip service from the do-nothing Democrats.

Classic Conservaposse response. One of the major political parties stands up for your dignity and equality, while the party you love treats you like shit. Little wonder all you can do is spit venom.

jockfever: Pretty quick way to write off about 30 states. Landslide, anyone?

jockfever: You can identify broad-minded, tolerant, diversity-loving Libs by how they refer to their opponents. Cancers? Statism is the cancer, devouring our freedom and prosperity.

And Obama and his accomplices are a Statist disaster. Prediction: Republicans take the White House and the Senate, and keep the House.

Let them spit their venom for another 4 more years. The voters see the negativity. The voters also see the progress which the Democrats have brought after the Republicans nearly wrecked the country AND the global economy.

    HAhahaha! I'm enjoying the show!

Republican view: He's the anti-Christ and a socialist.
Democratic view: He's elected, now lets see if he's keep his word.

Actually just over 10 years ago I never thought it would happen in my lifetime. It seemed so far away with all the hatred in control of the house, senate and presidency.

    FACT CHECK:

The size of the government has shrunk under President Obama.

By contrast - Repub Ronald Reagan increased the size of the federal govt. more than any other president over the last 40+ years.

    The Repubs are big government.
They just spend on different stuff than the Dems do.

The Republican Party is for small government. Small enough to fit into your bedroom, that is.

That's great and all, but in the end, this issue will be decided by SCOTUS. And I know that it will rule on the right side of history.

GordonLee90232 saidI do not know if this is a good thing or not because it is strange that all of a sudden in the election year they are doing it and they could have done it 3 or 4 years ago when they had the control of the Congress and President Obama was in the white house but instead the Democrats did not do anything which is one of the reasons I lost a lot of my support for the Democrat party becuase if they did not even try to do it then it tells me they really are not interested in doing it except speaking about it for getting the gays to vote for them and at least from what I see on this web site almost all the American gays are just voting based on the one issue so they will vote for Democrats even if they did not do this.

All politicians pander...it's the name of the game.

Blah, blah, blah.....you can spin this anyway you want to. Fact remains
that if you are a Gay republican, you are NOTHING but a traitorous, hypocritical, cancer to the Gay community.
If the truth hurts...oh well. icon_wink.gif

This announcement, whether it's a pandering tactic or not as some others have put fourth, is a fantastic step in the correct direction. The major political party officially announcing support for Gay marriage is HUGE!!

I would pay to see the how you traitorous, hypocritical, Gay republicans would be treated by your own party once they found out you were Gay.
And then where would you turn? Where? No where. You would have NO support.
BUT I promise you and your ilk would be the first in line with their hands out to reep the benefits that we Gays will eventually get. Thanks to who? Not the republicans!

They'll rule in favor of equality of course. We've got the 4 liberal justices on our side, plus Kennedy always rules in favor of gay rights. We may even get Roberts on board, as he gave legal advice to gay rights advocates in a case that would become Romer v. Evans.
