65% of Democrats support gay marriage.
51% of Independents support gay marriage.

Only 24% of Repubs support gay marriage.

Repub claims that the Repub party isn't anti-gay are obviously extremely dishonest.

In fact the hate gap between the anti-gay Repub party and the Democrats and the Independents is growing.

What Mr. Rick fails to point out from the poll is...

"Overall, Americans remain closely divided on same-sex marriage. The new Pew poll found 48 percent in favor and 44 percent opposed, virtually unchanged from a survey in April — before to Obama's announcement".

What the poll results make clear is the fact that a majority of Democrats and a majority of Independents support marriage equality for gay Americans - while only one in four Repubs support gay marriage.

Is this suppose to be news? They needed another poll to tell us this? icon_rolleyes.gif

Um, but what about Gay Republicans? don't say they don't exist, 'cause then I wouldn't be able to type with my non-existent fingers....

    That's hilarious.

You've claimed countless times on the blog threads here - that the Repub party really isn't anti-gay.
Now you're admitting that it's a known fact that the Repubs ARE anti-gay.

    LOL
    FLIP-FLOP much?

No wonder you're such a knee jerk defender of Mitt "The Flip-Flopper" Romney.

It is the conservative, right wing of the GOP that is opposed to gay marriage. Not all republicans are opposed to gay marriage. The narrow minded, bible thumping screwballs have the GOP held hostage and more moderate republicans feel totally powerless which is very sad.

You're missing the point entirely. None of us are stupid enough to think that ALL Republicans are anti-gay, but you see it's the MAJORITY that makes or breaks things. So even if you're not anti-gay, if you're voting for a party who's majority is, then you're effectively voting against gay rights.

Well, as the poll states - about one in four Repubs do support gay marriage.
I give those Repubs full credit.

Unfortunately the vast majority (about 75%) of Repub voters are anti-gay.

And it's looking like it will take many years for that to change.

Delusional people see what they want to see. Facts are merely annoyances to be swatted away like flies.

Truer words were never spoken. The sad thing is people will still believe their miniscule vote means a damn. Some never view themselves as a minority until it's too late.

One article I read on this study yesterday showed that the 24% of supportive republicans is up from 22% the year before. I guess that is improvement.

The only thing that hasn't changed since the beginning of time is the republicans.

Rick debunked your position, and the best rebuttal you can come up with is, "Is this suppose (sic) to be news?"

JackBlair69 saidOf course there are more anti-gay people in the Republican party.

But why the hell do 35% of Democrats oppose gay marriage?

    The Dems aren't pro-gay; they're just less anti-gay.

However, it still stands that I would rather come out gay to a Republican than come out Republicans to gays.

Some people are anti gay, some people are pro-gay. I would say it has more to do with being religious than not being religious than it has to do with political affiliation.

It's right beside the poll that shows how many Blacks hate the KKK. Oddly enough, about the same percentage.
