Pat Robertson lives in a world isolated from reality. I've actually met the man and had lunch with him some years ago. I've never met someone who lives in such a paranoid alternate universe.

Ideologically he resides in the furthest fringes of the far right, but in his mind he represents middle of the road mainstream America. He is probably as out of touch with mainstream America as Sarah Palin and Fred Phelps.

This is the same pathetic liar who claimed he could bench press 2,000 pounds in an ad for some "age-defying" supplement he was marketing.
The world's bench-press record is around 1,000 pounds, Pat.
    You lose.

You know after all the nutty, vile, and hateful things this old douche wind bag has said not only about gays but women and other minorities and used his religion for hate is it wrong to wish this man a very slow and painful death?icon_confused.gif

You could not be more wrong --- as usual. Who really gives a damn what this old windbag (Pat Robertson, not YOU Turtleneck) has to say anyway.

How could he not be more wrong? Republicans do cling to what the triflin' bullshiter says.

I find it fucking hilarious how the Republicans on this website are constantly like "nuh uh!", yet most of y'all don't have a clue what it's like to be under complete Republican domination.

Wait, no I don't...I find it fucking repulsive and ignorant.

I was going to say, at roughly 1,000 years old I wouldn't be bandying about the phrase 'death wish' lightly lest I draw the Grim Reaper's attention to the fact that he missed a spot.

His opinions in this video seem rather tame, considering he has previously compared gay marriage to bestiality and child molestation.

But good to have an upgrade on his position on the issues.

Kinda sad that no 'right wing' members have uttered any sort of condemnation.. (with the very weak comment by CJ, otherwise its only praise for this guy from the 'right' members here.)

Oh and I pray robertson has a massive coronary and croaks soon! maybe then he'll answer to his maker and it aint gonna be pretty!

Meh, the guy is a nut. I'm more concerned his hate is transmitted on a family channel. ABC Family, what is the deal? Seems like every time I flick through it's 700 Club.

Lets pass on the personal sniping and just answer the question....

Clearly Robertson is a man who's time has passed, give him a few years and he'll be long gone.

How can hate be valued more than love. Why is it so easy to be against something than for?
I think they are very confused. Our marriage equality isn't going to "take away" or stop Heteros from getting married. That is just stupid.
Hell we love giving, we give stuff all the time in the gay community. The only time we take anything, is when we take it up the ass.

Todd I don't smack you down... I've defended you a number of times on here... my point is you can answer the question without "side smacking" somebody like Turtleneck.

I didn't side-smack Turtleneck I made it clear to him that I was talking about Pat Robertson, NOT him because I know how uber sensitive TN can be. Sorry if you interpreted it a different way. Not that I have to justify my posts to you.

Pat Robertson paraphrased: (1) Gays and Lesbians represent a relatively small proportion of society. (2) Every time the ["gay marriage"] initiative has been tested at the ballot box, it has been overwhelmingly defeated. (3) Democrats appear willing to alienate the majority. (4) Maybe they have a death wish.

    Introduction to Ad Hominem Fallacies
One of the most common non-rational appeals is an argumentum ad hominem--or, as the Latin phrase suggests, an "argument against the person" (and not against the ideas he or she is presenting). Our decisions should be based on a rational evaluation of the arguments with which we are presented, not on an emotional reaction to the person or persons making that argument. But because we often react more strongly to personalities than to the sometimes abstract and complex arguments they are making, ad hominem appeals are often very effective with someone who is not thinking critically.
