When it comes to particular talents that you have and you feel like you can't break through?
So to preface, I have been singing for 2.5 years and I really enjoy it so much that I really want to improve my voice heaps and be better.

I don't necessarily think I'm awesome but my friends have commented and they like my voice, and so sometimes I get frustrated when my voice isn't exactly at the level I want it to be, but it's not something that you can decide to overdo because you can really damage your voice that way.

I'm not looking to become an artist or make music, I just really love singing for fun but it's still a passion of mine. So how do you guys handle when you feel you can't break through to where you want your talent/passion to be?
Some look to others for inspiration but, and this is going to sound so bad, if I get carried away watching others for inspiration (i.e. other great singers) I tend to feel disheartened lol.

Partly because I feel I started singing so late because I didn't realise how much I loved it til later and my singing teacher has been pushing me alot which is good and she's always so excited to teach me.

I suppose the answer may just be patience, but man sometimes I feel powerless because I want to do more but I feel like, at least with singing, you have to give it time.

This. Talents are like muscles - they must be exercised, rested, properly nourished.

    Thanks for the replies.
You know, I had a feeling that was going to be the answer so I just have to work on my patience.

I am making progressive steps, before I was even too shy to sing in front of my teacher lol and now I managed to take a part in one of my friends songs.
Mind you it was just a backing vocal where I did a lower melody as a harmony with the main singer for 1 verse and part of a bridge lol but still, heaps better than what I was before in terms of confidence.

She actually posted it on youtube so I'm kind of scared to look it up haha.

Anyway, I suppose I'll just have to teach myself to learn to accept where I am at present and just continue hoping that it gets better in future.
