This is in my hometown. While I'm moving away in 10 days, I am very proud to be born and raised in New Hampshire. My independent spirit and ability to not only think for myself, but stand by my beliefs, is definitely a product of my upbringing here. Thank you, Mr. Picolia.

I hope you stop by sometime before your move and support this particular franchise and it's manager. Nice to see its more than just talk and that he is actually donating food to the local gay pride event.

Did the franchisees in your area do something courageous like this one and stand up against the parent company and offset the donations to anti-gay groups by giving to a pro-equality group?

Bahaha. Why would they when self-loathing gays like freedomisntfree proudly buy their products in support of Chick-fil-A's right to promote hate speech and donate its profits to groups that was to deny gays freedom, equality, and in Uganda the right to live?

Nice.... but it doesn't mean shit.
The franchise owners still give the parent corporation money..... and then That money supports Focus on the Family, hypocritical Christian groups and maybe even westboro Baptist church. (for all I know )....so as long as you support your local CFA (no matter how Nice the local owner is ), You Are Still Giving Money to People that actively and publicly DISCRIMINATE S. AGAINST YOU and that is the dumbest thing Ever.

Honesty i don't know, but i did have a 30 min talk with the owner operator of this location. I'd heard of them before but had paid them no attention until the hell broke loose. I really liked fried chicken and they opened a Cains across the street from the gym, which became really bad for me. It is located a bit southwest so i could smell it walking back to the car. I had to change my hours so i didn't leave the gym until Cains is closed. So i do my best NOT to find these places.

These are all franchises and I'm fairly certain there would be nothing in the franchise agreement other than closing on Sunday, that would prohibit an owner operator from participating in what he wants (within reason). Given the business I'm in i should little trouble getting the franchise agreement.

Easy there, buster. I never said I was going to get lunch there...though as a previous poster suggested I am going to stop by and, provided he is on site when I do, express my gratitude.

I really feel for him and other franchisees like him who are caught in the middle of this mess. The age-old conflict of your own values versus those who hand you your paycheck. I'm sure he'd love to distance himself from such a controversial company, but I'm sure he has bills, a family, and, if CFA is like most restaurant groups, a contract he is legally bound to carry out. In this day and age especially, you take the job that is offered to you and you are damn thankful for the opportunity...your own personal beliefs have to take a backseat, sometimes.

When you accept a job, you should know at least a little about the company you are going to be working for. That CFA gives big money (I'm talking Millions ) to right wing causes is NOT news. I've known that for years and I don't work there and certainly did not buy into the company like this guy did. Strike one against him.
Now that it's more public about CFA , he makes a pro gay statement which is good....but actually doesn't mean shit because he still is contractually obligated to give the corporation money... and you know where that money goes. Nice try, but strike two.
True he is in a tough position because he may have to choose between making W dollars a y ear or finding another job...... but it's like a black person working at the factory that makes "I love the klan" T shirts..... I understand he needs a job but would anyone support him he didn't QUIT??
    Hell to the no.

The owner holds a position different from yours. He has that Freedom. And now he is a hate mongule, discriminates, anti-gay???? Listen to yourselves. You are arguing.....no......your are forcing your beliefs onto someone who doesn't share the same as you. AND, you hate him, dispise his company and are downright angry. He holds traditional values.....he's like 80 years old!!!!! What more do you expect..... a different time...a different place. Wonder what you will hold as values when you are 80. He provides job opportunity for thousands. and, he is against gay marriage. So WHAT. u say crucify him, crucify him!!!.
Let's get real. This has gotten rediculious. All inflamed by politicians. looking for a few more votes.
gay marriage is a legal thing. it will work itself out.
I think speed cameras are illegal.....but i don't go out and destroy them.

Why can't someone in this country have a difference in opinion. Different from yours. Why can't he contribute to causes he feels strongly in. YOU DO!!
Gawd, look what we become. Hypocrites.

Hey, mensa-lite, nobody is denying the owner his right to an opinion or a voice, but why do you condemn those who exercise the same in response?

I know straight people like to use the non existent argument of constitutional rights being the point. No one ever said he couldnt do that. Much like you are doing now. You are bitching that people disagree with him is hypocritical. Which its not. Yes, he provides job opportunities. So do a lot of people. Who cares. I will ask you your own question. Why cant someone in this country have a difference of opinion. Different from Chics and those that support them? Voicing a difference of opinion is not hypocrtical. I dont like what Chic does, but I dont go out and vandalize them. So I am sure what your point is there.

It looks like the only thing that bothers you is if a minority of people challenge something conventional.

It isn't his opinion, that's been known for a while, that is why this shitstorm has come up as of recent. It is where the profits donated in the name of the corporation are funneled in to. I'm not gonna do your research for you, I have to get ready for work. Look it up.

    Ha, bmoreit2 got ripped.

Nice try at trying to hide behind the Constitution to justify hate speech and efforts to deny life and liberty to gays, but it was an obvious fail. Osama bin Laden had a different opinion that mine; I didn't see Americans lining up to give him money to fund his terrorism claiming they supported his "free speech."

The bigot Chick-fil-A supporters don't care about free speech: they support hate speech and donations to organizations that want to kill gays. All the spin in the world is not going to change that.

Hmm, my cynicism senses are tingling...

Ok, so on the one hand it is great that they want to do something good, but on the other hand it comes across as a marketing venture.
I can give them the benefit of the doubt that that is not their intent, but when you put your product into the hands of gays showing off their product labels and wrappers, then the end result looks like gay people support Chick-Fil-A instead of the other way around.
I don't know how they plan to get around this (maybe give out sandwiches and without the logo on it?)

I would be more impressed if they hung up signs and rainbow flags in their own restaurant saying 'We donate part of our profits towards gay rights'. Although I don't know if they are allowed to do that if it goes against corporate wishes.

The HATE in some of these responses is what I am referring to.... "mensa-like" perfect example. "non-existent arugument"....... Really???? I express my opinion.....and immediately look at the tone in responses. Just as the owner did. AND the Constitution still carries some weight around here....gay st8t, black .....purple or whatever. AND Goverment (Congress) votes on ammendments. Not the Prez, and not Politicians trying to insight a storm for their own adgendas. Itz not that people disagree...... It is how they do it. ANGRY!!!!!!! Down right PISSED-OFF that a huge crowd showed up yesterday!!!! No repsect at all for the difference in opinion. Whatever happened to saying " I respectfully disagree and these are my reasons....." I am sure a huge crowd will show up Friday also. So what. Wednesday crowd spoke/Friday's crwd will also. Am I to interview each owner of a business and ask him/her questions of what their beliefs are, who they contribute to...before I do any purchasing? "Challenging" is something completely different then BELITTLING. We (Gays) were opressed and still are to some degree...... so....we want to fix our issues by Oppressing someone with different opinions??. But, I digress. Ik this battle wont be fixed here. And I am SURE people will continue to HATE. Just thought we were bigger than that. Smarter too. Passion is one thing.......this is something so much different then that. And to the governors in NY and Bos....and the MAyor in DC..... Nice work!!!!

James Holmes can express the people that it's okay to shoot people up in theaters. It's not HATE to call him nuts.

You expressed a backwards bigoted opinion. You got called out and insulted on it, rightfully so. Free speech works both ways, sorry!
