Is it just me or am I seeing a trend among gay guys and their affinity for trendy tank tops during summer? These aren't the regular wife beaters, but those with fancy stripes and stuff on it.

Tank tops are full of win if the guy has nicely defined arms. icon_biggrin.gif

All these new fashion trends always work against the odds for me. I don't have legs skinny enough for hipster skinny jeans (don't these guys do squats?), don't have fancy facial hair for designer beards (blame the genes), don't have arms huge enough to look mean in a trendy tank top.

I love tank tops in solid colors.

But I've never been able to get into the tank-top-with-horizontal-stripes trend. I think it's because I like dressing to accentuate my height and horizontal stripes do the opposite. I'd probably feel differently if I were thinner.

Where I live lots of straight guys wear them too. Great look if you are sorta muscular or defined.

Untrue. I look ridiculous in yellow clothes, pleated pants, and my cowboy boots, which I love wearing but just shouldn't.

Are you serious? The horizontal stripes make a fit guy look broad, especially if you've got good shoulders, which you do.

Guys look great in tanks, especially when they've got broad shoulders, and a nice chest. Plus, you get to see their pits, which is very hot to me. Also like when the sleeves are ripped from a tee shirt and the side are split, that's even hotter than a tank.

In South Florida tank tops are very popular year-round. They don't work for me, plus that's a little too much skin exposure under the strong sun here, but lots of guys wear them almost everywhere.

At the same time some restaurants and bars won't permit them at all, or only during the day, not at night, so check that if you come to vacation down here, maybe keep another shirt in your car. The Sea Watch On The Ocean prohibits them, as does the Capitol Grill last time I was there (with a comically snooty maitre d'), and the Blue Martini doesn't like them in the evening, for example, all located in Fort Lauderdale.

I love tank tops, well sleeveless shirts in general 'cuz I sweat a lot...so in the summer in TX if I wear t-shirts I'll get pit stains (not discolored, just wet spots). Sorry if I grossed y'all out haha. So for me it's a practical thing, rather than some "trend."

It's not just a gay thing....a lot of my straight friends wear tanks. I love 'em because I also sweat like a mofo and they allow my body to breathe better...and I like the way they look on me...

I love tank tops because they're so light and comfortable and they don't make me look like a bum (like my other comfy clothes lol). And I think they look nice on me.

Seems like a Californian trend and it's spreading around, not so much here in Seattle since there hasn't been a real summer but I still bought one

Some guys find the visibly damp pits on a tee hot, and I know I'm not alone on this.
I like sleeveless shirts in general, but I'm into pits.
