I have noticed this for the last 15 years... It seems gay people mostly listen to that bump bump bump music. I just could never get into that sort of bump bump stuff, there's just so much more variety in rock music. Of course this is just my opinion.icon_cool.gif

I like 80's rock....(It has a lot of soul than heavy rock, imo & it resonates; well, relatively speaking)

Everything deemed 'rock' after that, to me, mostly comes across as screaming/hyper instrumental, ear rape.

I am fully aware of this, which is why I am asking what others think about this. It could become or already have become a stereotype.

    I like 80's hair bands.

But currently I listen to "bump bump bump" music, because that beats the shitty rock that's out today. icon_razz.gif

I don't think it's just gays. The music industry tries real hard to force generic music on the masses. Nothing wrong with that per se. I like some of it. I just wish some/most people would have an open mind and check out other types of music.

When I was young I had more of the patience and time to look for what's out there. Now I just EXPECT (lol) that the younger generations clue me in to the best... Problem is, it's been bump bump bump that last 15 years.icon_lol.gif

Depends on what you consider rock, since the scale goes from rock to death metal. Most gays dont care for death metal, then there are some who dont care for speed metal, or black metal, or power metal or heavy metal or hard rock or alternative rock or progressive rock blah blah blah. Its true for the straight world too. Although I find more hetero guys like heavy metal more than the gay guys I have met.

(shakes fist at sky) DAMN YOU!!!!

It's bit of an over-generalization. I like alternative rock, I guess. I don't like the music that most gay guys seem to like. I haven't met many gay guys who can stand to listen to the music I like. Oh well.

I like rock but it's such a huge genre now that you kinda have to be specific. If you're referring to the heavier stuff, I like some of that as well like FFDP, Disturbed, Killswitch Engage... and those bands are probably not even in the same genre (I'm not too knowledgeable on that regarding rock). Oh and this is probably what everyone says but I'm going to say it anyway, if I like how it sounds I'll listen to it.

I love certain rock music. Like Nirvana, Guns and Roses, Metallica, hell there are a bunch of rock bands that i've loved since I was a kid. I just never tell most people for whatever fucked up reason. But good rock music rocks! But of course I also like my rap, hip hop, soul, and r&b music because my people's music is just sexy as hell. I just want to go make love to somebody after listening to it, hahahaha. After I listen to rock music, I just want to go blow something up, lol. Just kidding, no but seriously.

I totally understand of every word you wrote. It's not that I don't like bump bump bump music, I am just a fan of good old fashioned 5 piece band style music... I should have called it that instead of Rock... What I really meant is music with a real drummer. Electric beats are cool but NOTHING beats a real drummer.icon_wink.gif
