I'm a lawyer in Fort Lauderdale. I practice in the area of Wills, Trusts, Estate Planning and Estate and Trust Admininstration. There are quite a few lawyers on RJ. If you can keep your topic front and center, most will chime in eventually.

I'm not a lawyer, but my mother, sister, and brother are, and I used to recruit lawyers for big Manhattan law firms. It seems like I've spent my life around lawyers.

    So, lawyer jokes:
What's black and brown and looks great on a lawyer?

    ....A doberman.

Not a lawyer but have retained and employed a few. Most lawyers that make it past their first few years seem to enjoy the job. The ones that decide they made a mistake going to law school tend to switch careers pretty quick after.

IMHO, the best lawyers are exactly those that are the most facile with words. I think the brains of great lawyers and great writers are wired very similarly. In fact, the best (and coolest) lawyer I ever worked with wrote an episode the once very popular TV series "St. Elsewhere" as a lark, and it got produced.

But all that was just to satisfy the OP.

My main reason was being enticed by J "I'm Here All Week" PrichVA to include a lawyer joke...

    K

.A lawyer and an engineer were fishing in the Caribbean.
The lawyer said, "I'm here because my house burned down,
and everything I owned was destroyed by the fire.
The insurance company paid for everything."

"That's quite a coincidence," said the engineer.
"I'm here because my house and all my belongings
were destroyed by a flood, and my insurance company
    also paid for everything."

    The lawyer looked somewhat confused.
"How did you start the flood?" he asked.

I will be one in a year; I'm presently working on taxation at a small firm in SF. I've also interned for the Dept of Justice and the City Attorney's Office.

Anyone in SF know of a decent firm looking for an Associate???

My cousin's wife is a lawyer. She's good. She has a trick of delivery when making speeches that silence a room and have everyone hanging on every word. She also knows lots of lawyer jokes,

    Why sharks don't eat lawyers:

    Professional courtesy.

This next is a physical joke:

My cousin's wife, "How do lawyers keep themselves warm?"

    Me, "I don't know"

She puts her hands in my pants' pockets.

ok, you had to be there... icon_redface.gif

The practice of law is what you make of it. However, I can say that law school was the most rewarding academic experience (and I have had a few academic experiences in my life). So go for it.
