Silver - Marcel Nguyen / Germany (YAY!!!!, Euro champ on Parallel bars)

If you missed the broadcast, I think NBC has a link for the full video there. It's like 3 hrs 42 mins something, the buffer and loading very slow. I was wondering if there is another good site like BBC or Ctv Canada for us to re-watch all of this performances?

His dad is Vietnamese who came to France to study, then he moved to Germany for a job and met his mom (a German blond) there. He is half German/Vietnamese, born in Munich Sep. 8. You can tell that he is half Asian because of the dark eyes and hair. He is apparently straight, has a beautiful brunette German girlfriend. He's 24 years old. Anyway, I think he's so hot and handsome! My favorite athlete in the games so far.

Danell Leyva from the US got bronze, John Orozco just made too many mistakes, I think he ended up in 8th? position. (Only 2 Gymnasts from each country competed in the All Around stage).

Sporting career

Nguyen began gymnastics at the age of four, and at seven joined TSV Unterhaching. Since 1995, he has trained in the regional training center in Munich. Since 1997, Nguyen was part of the squad perspective, where Andreas Hirsch and Jens Milbradt were his coaches. He rose quickly from the D- to B-squad. Since 2002, he has started for the Junior National Team. In 2005, Nguyen was the German junior champion on parallel bars, runner-up on rings and third in the vault. That same year he took part in the World Championships in Melbourne for the first time and placed 16th on the parallel bars. After the World Cup Nguyen spent a year at the sports boarding school in Stuttgart in order to prepare with his teammates under the coaches Anatoli Jarmovski and Klaus Nigl for the 2006 World Championships in Aarhus.

Nguyen won the silver medal in the men's all-around at the 2012 London Olympics.
Personal life

Nguyen's father is from Vietnam.[2]

Lol no, why would he though, the tattoo makes him look Sexy !!
He just covered it up for the judges *not to give him lower scores.

There is no official rule in the Code of Points about tattoos, so there's no basis on which the judges can deduct for it. However, a lot of gymnasts seem to cover up visible tattoos anyway because some judges from certain parts of the world aren't as open minded to tattoos. They might as well not risk some sort of bizarre deduction.

Yeah there were points where I could see part of it near his shoulders, it was a bit distracting, that's why I thought it was maybe in the process of getting removed or something.

There are a lot of gymnasts with visible tattoos these days, though, so I think it's safe to say that there isn't that much stigma against them in judging anymore.

Philipp Boy didn't qualify/had lower scores in the first round because of the rule of 2 gymnasts from each country, Fabian Hambuchen had a bad day at the meet in the IA, and he scored lower/ his nerves got to him? My guess would be Marcel wanted more than these two. At the Tokyo/other previous meets I saw on Youtube, it came down to him, Danell, Kohei and a couple of guys from Russia/Ukraine in the final round. So he's sort of up and coming and finally broke out at the Olympics as the star for the German's national team. Anyway, I'm glad, the best 3 men won the meet imho.

Yay, Marcel won his 2nd silver on the Parallel Bars !! Whoa !!!

Germany's Marcel Nguyen won silver Tuesday in the men's parallel bars, his second of the London games. Earlier a former Chinese hurdles world champion once again had his hopes dramatically crushed in the Olympic heats.

German gymnast Marcel Nguyen won his second medal of the London Games Tuesday with a silver in the men's parallel bars. The medal follows his surprise silver in the men's all around competition six days ago.

China's Feng Zhe won the competition, besting Nguyen by 0.166 points to finish with a score of 15.966. Hamilton Sabot of France finished third with 15.566 points.

Feng, the 2010 world champion, gave the Chinese men's gymnastics team its third medal of the London games.

Nguyen was the fourth gymnast to perform, meaning he had to anxiously sit through the duration of the competition before finding out whether he would win a medal.

The 24-year-old has been one of his Germany's bright spots in what has otherwise been a poor Olympics. He is the only German to win multiple medals in individual competition so far this summer in London.

Gymnast Fabian Hambuchen followed his German teammate's success with a silver of his own in the men's horizontal bar competition. It was the second career Olympic medal for the 24-year-old. He won bronze in the same event four years ago in Beijing.
