If you could drop everything and move to a foreign country to live for a year or indefinitely, where would you go?

I am talking about either a job transfer, seeking a new adventure or if you fall in love with the people, cultures or the guy living there. I am actually looking into opportunities of teaching English oversea in these 3 countries! Esp. Germany !

    My top 3 choices: (edited)

1/ Viva la France (studied French for 7 1/2 yrs, I have to go back)
    2/ Germany
    3/ Italy (tossed up).

My best girlfriend here in Los Angeles is from Rome, and just moved back to Italy, but to Venice. I am thinking of doing exactly what you are thinking of! My list is:

    1) Italy
    2) Paris
    3) London

Unless of course "HE" finally proposes and then it's

    1) Wherever Michael Phelps wants me to live with him! icon_razz.gif
    2) Italy
    3) Paris
    4) London

It'd be between one of the Nordic countries, Italy, or New Zealand. Hmmm...if I had to pick between just one, it'd be Denmark.

Just spent the entire month of June in London. Rented a flat in the Notting Hill Gate/Kensington Church St. area for 4 weeks. I LOVE LONDON!!!!! I want to go back!!!! I WANT TO MOVE THERE FOREVER!!!! I have wanted to see London for 40 years... Now, even with over 2000 photos I took while there to remind me of the trip, I can't believe I was really there.......(sigh)

I lived and worked in Villeurbanne, France for four years... and would return in a heartbeat.

I think it woud be pretty difficult to teach English on the European continent, because of open borders today a school can get a British citizen with no paperwork hassles, so it is much easier legal-wise and cheaper too.

You'd have much better luck in China, or some developing semi-third world country, etc. Not as euro-romantic but a more interesting experience, and China would look great on you resume, no matter what field you go into.
