"Cooper had CNN Capitol Hill reporter, Dana Bash on to discuss the story, according to Bash, her source can confirm Sen. Reid's allegation. Bash went even further, she said this source also personally knows the Bain source who would have access to Romney's tax record. If this Bain source story is true, then, Mitt Romney is in serious trouble "

How can he relate to the average American if he has not paid taxes for over the past 10 years?

He has no idea what the average American is going through right now.

How does someone who is working get away with not paying taxes over the past ten years?

This man is so out of touch with the American people and corrupt. God I hope he does not become the next President. We will have another George Dubya on our hands and God knows how well that turned out for the country when that happened. icon_rolleyes.gif

I couldn't agree more !!! Romney is finished with the average American voter !!

Only the most Partisan Repubs will vote for him, even the Christian Fundi's and TBaggers will be shaken by this. I have to wonder though, how many of our gay republicans will be shaken from backing this sorry candidate ?

Romney clearly doesn't have the average American in his sites, He's bought and paid for by the rich and the lobby's like AIPAC and its only their interests he would be concerned about if by some idiocy the American voters put him in the White House.

    Thanks for posting this Rick

GordonLee90232 saidI am not sure I understand this did Mr. Romney evade paying his taxes or did he file his tax return following the law and after adding everything up the total taxes that he owed to the federal government was zero?

This scandal is about whether or not Romney is lying.

A Bain source leaked word that there were ten years that Romney paid no taxes at all.

Now Romney has denied it - stating flat out that it's "totally and completely wrong" that he paid no taxes for ten years.

Romney has crawled way out on a limb.
Every journalist in the country is going to try to be the one to get the name of the Bain source who has knowledge of Romney's tax records.
There are only a very limited number of people at Bain who would have that knowledge.
Many members of the press are hungry to be the one to break this story.
    There will be further developments.
And of course if Romney is revealed as a liar that would be devastating.

Romney can easily prove that he's telling the truth by releasing his tax records.
Every day that he fails to do that confirms that he's hiding something extremely damaging.

If there's a leak, it's from someone in the Mormon church. Mormons have to tithe 10%. The church probably has Romney's returns given his high rank within the church. Harry Reid is the highest ranking Mormon politician in US history. Maybe someone else in the church works or worked with Romney at Bain but also knows Reid due to the Mormon connection?

If reporters are sniffing around, they might start looking at folks who were Bain employees but also Mormons.

Oh well then it is not a scandal at all because I saw on the news channel just a few weeks ago that the General Attorney Eric Holder was lying and that President Obama was also lying and nothing bad happened to them so this will be like that and in a few weeks nobody will care about a tax paper work return.

I think you are right. They will be thinking more about the 8.3% unemployment and the Obama promises made. They won't listen to his blame game, but will be kinda upset they can't afford the new iPhone5 with all its cool features because they don't have a job.

I´m not sure how much those who lost their houses, had their life savings wiped out and have been struggling to make ends meet will care that much. Though it would be sweet if he ended up in prison.

^ You read it on a newspaper website? Put a sock in it, Gordon, lol.

Anyway, IF this is true - still a big, big IF - I suspect it will be a result of very good tax planning, not any kind of illegal activity. But the voters won't care and it will be horrible for Romney.

If this is NOT true, then those floating these rumors really ought to be ashamed of themselves. Stooping to the level of, well, the opposition. Blecch.

I don't believe at all that the 'lie' aspect of Romney's reluctance to give out ten more years of his tax history is the problem, that is miniscule. What will strike a note with the vast majority of voters is that he paid very little in taxes compared to middle America, that fact will put him at odds with the vast majority of Americans, It show's that Romney is totally out of touch with average Americans. That's Romney's problem, not the aspect of a lie being told.

Harry Reid Doubles Down On Romney Tax Charge

The Huffington Post | By Luke Johnson Posted: 08/02/2012 12:01 am Updated: 08/02/2012 10:13 am

Sen. Harry Reid (D-Nev.) didn't back down Wednesday from his accusation, made in an interview with The Huffington Post, that he heard that Mitt Romney didn't pay taxes for a decade.

"I am not basing this on some figment of my imagination," he told Nevada reporters on a conference call, according to the Las Vegas Review-Journal. "I have had a number of people tell me that." He declined to name his source.

"I don't think the burden should be on me," he said. "The burden should be on him. He's the one I've alleged has not paid any taxes. Why didn't he release his tax returns?"

"He didn't pay taxes for 10 years! Now, do I know that that's true? Well, I'm not certain," he said. "But obviously he can't release those tax returns. How would it look?"

He won't end up on prison because all of his financial shell game income masking is legal. It just looks bad. Very, VERY BAD in the eyes of the average American.

Which is good. People need to see Rmoney for what he is: An out of touch snob who cares nothing for the average American except for what he can get out of us to fill his own coffers.

I think that is a very disturbing statement that Harry Reid made because what he is saying is that he made an accusation and now Mr. Romeny has to prove that the accusation is false and I think that is backwards to how America is because if you are going to make an accusastion then you should present the proof to back up the accusastion.

Well !!! as they say, "turn about is fair play" !! Its so hypocritical for republicans to complain about the above tactic that its laughable, I lost count on how many times republicans have thrown out some totally baseless claim in the last 3 years and then repeated it and repeated it some more, claiming that their victim has to prove a negative wrong. But the great thing about this case with Reid is, he's got more honor than the typical republican Bachmann styled conspiracy theorist, so his word is taken for truth, because he's in the habit of only saying what he can back.

Republicans !!! "PAYBACKS ARE HELL", Now lets see Romney's proof that he paid taxes.

    Let's play a little game

Let's IMAGINE the Blood curdling screaming that would be coming out of the republicans
and the 24 hour loop that would be playing on FOX News if Barack would say he didn't want to show us his taxes

My ears clenched just on the thought that that could happen

Enjoy Republicans .... it's gonna get worse
