There was a comment that mentioned a difference between civil marriage and religious celebration (marriage). I feel that this is a concept that should be brought out into more public discussions; although, opponets still try to argue that even civil gay marriage is detrimental, albeit, unsuccessfully.

Well if this is the view of ALL REPUBLICANS, those in favor of Justice David Wiggins, need to only vote DEMOCRATS!!!!
I would post on this story but I don't have (or ever will)an account on Farce Crook.
If Chairman A.J. Spiker believes this is going to effect the Nation maybe everyone on RJ wiith a FB account should post their opinion on this story. Our local papers have comments turned off.
Bad news is last time around special interest groups from outside IA funded door to door canvases and made sure those who had their view got to the poles (absentee ballots handed to them, reminder calls, rides to vote, ect...) religious groups and churches put what ever spin they need (including telling people the justices may just reverse bestiality laws and allow people to marry their animals) to in order to get their followers to get out and vote. The ads were ambiguous making the judges sound like they were unable to properly interpret the Iowa Constitution.
The good news is there was a bit of a back lash after last time, and it sounds like a lot of Pastors feel there is more their congregations need to worry about with their vote than this one subject.
I just hope the smart Iowans get out and vote for equal rights!!!!

Sent an e-mail to Iowa Governor Terry Branstad... keep you posted if i hear anything back.

Sorry to hear A.J. Spiker the Republican Party of Iowa’s chairman is calling for Iowans to vote against Iowa Supreme Court Justice David Wiggins to “help end the bullying of activist judges once and for all.” (One of the authors of a court decision that legalized same-sex marriage in Iowa.)
And as he states “The REPUBLICAN Party of Iowa BELIEVES we must be a state based on laws and not the whims of unelected activist judges attempting to impose their personal views on the public. The people of Iowa are tired of increasingly powerful bureaucrats arrogantly and deceitfully instituting law when they have no justification or ability to do so."
I am glad to hear ALL REPUBLICANS feel this way, it will make my trip to the polls so much easier, now I can just vote a STRAIGHT DEMOCRAT TICKET. That will make it so much easier than trying to just decided who may actually be better for office ( I VOTED FOR YOU BY THE WAY and got into many arguments with fellow dems over you... and changed a few minds)
I will also vote to retain all justices who are targeted that chose to properly interpret the Iowa laws, and as those who were voted in to replace them will get a no on retention.
There are plenty of forums out there already that are commenting on the subject and it looks bad for the whole republican party nation wide.
Thanks for who ever gets to read this, if you have any counter to A.J. Spiker's statement i would be glad to here it. Would love to have him retract it nationally, very embarrassing for your party and those of us that try to support you. I would love to have a chance to vote for Branstad and Grasley in the future but if the whole Republican party is going to just let this discrimination continue i will only vote Democrat.

Historically speaking (if I'm correct), Iowa has always been socially progressive.

It's only activism if Judges make a ruling you don't like.
