    From the article:

Compared with the job recovery after the previous two recessions, the job growth today is just about what might be expected. It was tepid after both the downturns of 2001 and 1990.

However, those two recessions were relatively shallow, and not nearly as deep as the economic drop that began in December 2007. The climb back from those recessions, as a result, was less imposing.

When the current jobs recovery is compared with what followed the most recent deep recession, that of 1981-1982, the job growth
these days does indeed look very weak. For the two years after that recession ended, average job growth rose about 280,000 jobs per month.

“It’s not the slowest of recoveries,” said Gary Burtless, an economist at the Brookings Institution. “It’s just the slowest recovery when we’ve had such a deep recession.”

Shortly after the release of Friday’s jobs numbers, President Obama framed it his way, noting that while millions of jobs have been added over the past 29 months, many more were needed because of the severity of the ’07 collapse.

“We knew when I started that it will takesome time,” Obama said. “We had not had to come back from a recession this deep or painful since the 1930s, but we also knew if we were persistent and keep the right attitude, then we’ll gradually get to where we need to be.”

The above improvement took place in spite of the best efforts of the PARTY OF NO, blocking everything they could to make Obama a one term president.

The reality is Obama has been a terrible president. If you look back at his record, he's really done nothing. NOTHING! Ask the young person who's been looking for a job for the past four years...

Every president is handed a shovel of crap from the previous administration, most do pretty well, Obama flunked, and then cried foul. He is an awful president! Don't try to defend him, what a joke.

Don't forget that this guy had both the House and the Senate for his first two years and he still did NOTHING! How convenient to forget that. The PARTY OF NO indeed, he's just a horrible president.

Are you telling me that the PARTY OF NO's efforts to block every job improving initiative the Dems and Obama put forward isn't a great deal to blame for lackluster job increases ? Few presidents have been handed any worse a national crises than what Bush and Cheney created from many a front.

If anybody flunked it's Bush who created a mess after what Clinton's administration left over.

If you compare this anemic recovery with others, this is much worse, so the argument how bad things were doesn't cut it. Also during the first two years they could get anything through they wanted, Obamacare being an example, and they could use parliamentary tactics to ram anything they wanted.

Their eye was focused only on Obamacare, and they thought the stimulus would work. Depending on how you do the math, the cost to create a single job ranged from approx $300K to over $1M.

Then after 2010, the Republicans were responding to a mandate which Obama admitted was a shellacking. The voters said they wanted the spending reduced, but Obama said fuck the voters, my way or the highway. So the Republican obstruction post 2010 was just doing what the voters sent them to do, while Obama wanted to repeat the son of stimulus, leading to the same failure repeated.

In response to the nonsense that preceded me ..........

    Yes the recovery IS anemic
and WHY is the recovery anemic?

BECAUSE we have no jobs Bill
Jobs Jobs Vaginas? Remember? You have a House that has done less than EVERY Congress in the last 50 years and they even beat the DO NOTHING Congress that was labelled so under Truman and that was hard to beat

and on the other side you have a Senate where the minority has dubbed themselves a gateway drug...... in that they block ANYTHING AND EVERYTHING they can

That my man has made government as we know it ineffective which I know is a republicnan's dream come true

Now you say we need a change ..... LOL

To the VERY same Sh*t that GOT US INTO THIS mess in the first place
Because if you hold Romney's economic plan and Bush's economic plan up to a mirror? ....You get the same freakin reflection
Because if you SEE a difference? Please let me know... because I'm dying to find one

Republicans .... you f**ked it up and you're tryin for a second chance to do it all over again

The real nonsense is what precedes this message.

    Obama owns this pathetic recovery
    http://www.realjock.com/gayforums/2562582

As far as "jobs bills" the Republican controlled House has proposed a number of them which the Senate won't even consider.

If "jobs bills" means son-of-stimulus, didn't work the first time. Wouldn't work again. All it would do is add more to the debt. And the American people in 2010 said they don't want another.

You all are assuming that Romney is the man I'm thinking should be running this country. It could be him, or it could be anybody else. All's I know is we've had a horrible president for the past four years, and if you think that will change if he's re-elected, I have a bridge to sell you. If you can't see what a loser Obama's been for our country, I'm sorry. He's really been awful...AWFUL!

.... a package that almost EVERY economist says WILL NOT help the economy >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> especially in the short term where it is needed the most

Now here is where you republicans need a little Civics lesson
Remember School House Rock and Mr Bill ?

When he's sitting all alone on the Capitol steps all dejected because he was rejected? Huh? remember?

And what is supposed to happen when your Bill gets rejected?
It's SUPPOSED to go back and get rewritten with COMPROMISES so it won't get rejected again

    HUH!!!!! OH NO!!!!

I said the "C" word .... better try and push thru the same crap that you KNOW won't get passed instead of makin some changes that MIGHT allow it to pass
    RIGHT?

LOL.... COMON Mr Soc ... you can do better than that can't oyu?

Saddly all many are going to remember and hear is Obama saying he supports gay marriage, they are that shallow, and self serving. They do not want to see the damage Obama is doing and done to America.

You have to hope God may well bless America, because Obama is not.

These job creation numbers are encouraging but obviously growth is not as robust as it should be.
Having said that, Obama's job creation numbers are far higher than George W. Bush's... which begs the question, why would we elect Romney and return to the failed policies which created the recession, which we are just now beginning to recover from?

LMAO !!! GQ, its hopeless to get down to reasoning with SoCal, he's a TBagger, Christian Fundi type, God is on his side, so no need to be reasonable, no need for compromise, because to these fanatics they are right so compromise is against the rules. after all their god doesn't compromise so why should they. His ilk in our Government is exactly why its become unworkable.

Yup, the want of civil rights and equality is "self serving". Those who want something like that are "shallow". Once again, you've pretty much summed up the conservative view here on RJ.

I guess once the left puts chick-fil-a out of business the unemployment numbers will go up again.
