128mb of ram was gigantic. 10gb of harddrive space was mind boggling. 300mhz processors? No wai!

I remember the first music video on MTV was "Video Killed the Radio Star".... actually MTV played ONLY music videos. AND Madonna had a steady American Accent with NO hint of European Accent.

There were only three television channels. And they all went to a test pattern at midnight.

Most cars had fins. If someone drove a Japanese car down the street, people would stop and stare.

There were no trees anywhere near the interstate, because it had only just been built.

There was an extra school vacation in the fall so that kids could help with the apple harvest.

Good grief. I have to stop thinking about that shit. icon_redface.gif

At 1 am when the 3 TV channels went off the air, right before they played the Star Spangled Banner, they showed a list of the FBI's 12 most wanted fugitives. That made for a good night's sleep knowing who was out there.

Also, in Philadelphia, a TV station played The Beatles' GOOD NIGHT (from the White Album) with a video of a sunset, before signing off.
