"I am cleaning out my friends list!"

Here's an idea: Instead of posting that you're "cleaning out your friends list" and you want people to reply if they're interested in surviving your self righteous purge, just go ahead and drop everybody. Then see who bothers to find you again. icon_idea.gif

I used to hate when people would try to be philosophical knowing damn well they copied and pasted their status from someone else and didn't know what the hell it meant...

ANYTHING that has to do with Farmville, CityVille, etc.

The game request stuff to me is worse then advertisements IMHO.

I hate when people go on and on and on about their significant other. It's okay when they do it every so often. However, I don't need to log on and see the whole "My babe and I <33333" every day. Drives me insane.

i determined that facebook is nothing but a platform for people to spew their ignorant, bigoted, racist, misogynistic, homophobic opinions - so i deleted mine and have absolutely zero regrets.

Copied and pasted messages from the universe, horoscopes, etc. I mean I'm happy for you if you're about to meet a tall, handsome stranger, but please tell me after it happened.

    Any one of the following...

"Just got home, kids are fed, Stan can't stop throwing up, high temp., now in in bed, going to sleep FB friends..."
"Just did a mountain of laundry, Phew!"
Wedding pictures of people I don't know...
"Think I am going downtown to play pool."
"Headed out to mow the lawn."
    "Tired."
    "Date night..."
"Our new couch..." (photo of couch)
"Looked everywhere for our new window treatments..." (photo of window treatment)
    "New Ottoman..." (photo of Ottoman)
"Neighbor's dog shits in our yard."
"Down to 170! Suck my dick..."
Vacation pictures of friends, when I want to be one vacation...
Pictures of friends who live near Disney World, visiting Disney World...

I sound like jerk. I do enjoy creatively written updates. Most any message from a gay friend or family member. Also Deep Dish, Instinct, the Healthy Bear, and dozens of other gay sites that have a facebook profile.

Pictures of them flipping off the camera, statuses regarding how much of a drunk mess they are, and bitchy statuses about how much they hate drama (which are just ironic)

I have a lot of female FB friends and from the near daily posts of some of the single ones, you would think men are the most vile and evil creatures on earth.

Murphy's Drama Law: those who bitch about 'drama' are usually the biggest instigators of it.

I'll admit that I am probably annoying with my Facebook statuses. Multiple people have told me to get a Twitter.

Oh yes, I upload food pics too so guilty again.

    wh...HAVE YOU BEEN STALKING ME???

but honestly, all of those app requests really piss me off. The only consistent thing other than that is when a close friend asks my opinion of whether she should do/buy something that I know a lot about (say, a car) and I tell her "No, bad idea", she ignores me, buys the damned car and then won't shut up about it on FB about how its so horrible and everything is breaking and now she's just buying a new 2012 because her formerly-street-raced Trans-Am fell apart from underneath her.

Anyone of those Hallmark canned copy/paste wisdom status updates... like this one i just saw:

Replace "Should" with "Could" and explore your options. Put an end to the self inflicted judgement, self criticism and pain that "Should" places upon you. Opportunities for a healthy sense of self an love are at your fingertips!

Especially when you KNOW that person isn't remotely philosophical at all.

Any Jesus status update or the "Post this if you know someone with HIV or Cancer" updates. As if typing some words in a box is going to replace activism or volunteerism if you really care so much about whatever the cause is.

Or when boyfriends and girlfriends post on eachothers walls "Thinking of you boo."

I play with my status updates...and will post rather frank yet entertaining updates... so to some my be annoying... i will totally say "I cut myself while shaving my ass..and decided to leave a paper towel up there.. i feel like i am wearing a tampon."
