So I have been going to this starbucks a few times lately because my house has been getting worked on and I needed a quiet place to finish reading my book.

This barista at Starbucks has noticed me there and I know he is gay. He remembered my drink order quickly after a few times and today he gave me a free drink. He asked for me name too. I don't know if thinks I am gay too, but is this just a common thing some people at Starbucks do to customers or is it subtly hinting he is interested in me?

If you have worked at Starbucks or anything, please comment. icon_cool.gif

I've been given free coffee for being a regular at Starbucks; but your case seems different. I think he's hitting on you.

Also, my bicycling buddy works at Starbucks...started working there after we'd already been riding.

Starbucks is big on customer service. They like free drinks to keep people happy. But he could be interested. Could easily go either way...

Seriously- I work at McDonald's and I give free ranch packets to the hot chicks (not so much dudes, since they rarely stop by) if they ask for it with something that doesn't go with it. I'd personally make small talk if he's working and not busy, and then be like "want to do xyz sometime with some friends of mine?"

I hope you don't eat McDonalds. That's taboo on this cite!

Edit: OP yes, he is into you. Hit on him if you like him...if not then don't return signals but be gracious. I know what it's like to not recognize signals...it took me like 6 years of my 20s to finally pick up on them and enjoy the game.

50% off, half hour break and it's by a corn field. I have virtually no choice, but we also serve chicken that's okay for American standards and salads. You should see how I doctor my sandwiches up.

I couldn't taste it in my mind so I'll have to actually taste it....I usually just mix mayo and ketchup and dip the fries in that icon_razz.gif

ah I had the same thing happen to me not that long ago actually - I went to pay and he goes "no it's on me"... I was never sure if he was flirting or just offering good customer service either haha
in your case I think he was doing more than just offering good customer service....

I had a similar experience when I started working at the Gap in the city a few years back. The barista, memorized my drink and would have it ready before I reached the counter( making it before customers who should have gone first)
and then one day they started being free or he would charge me as little as possible. He used a survey receipt for an excuse to write his name down for me, and they next thing I knew we were on a date!
Plus, I work in retail. Cute boys definitely get a different 'Can I help you find anything?' than ordinary customers. ;)

when they ask you for your name that means they are gay. I worked as a waiter so i have regular customers and they tip me when i remember what they want.

Uh.. I'm pretty sure they're SUPPOSED to ask your name. The baristas always ask mine at all the locations I've been to. So that way they can call it out when your order is ready.

I wasn't aware that that retailer's culture was to offer free drinks to regulars. That being the case, he might just be doing his job. But he might be genuinely interested in you. No way to know for sure unless you try to find out. If you're interested in him, you can can ask him out. icon_biggrin.gif

That sounds like every cafe I've ever made my regular.

They know what I order, they occasionally give me a free one, they talk to me, have a conversation while I wait for my coffee, we get along great talk about all kinds of crap including personal stuff and we mostly laugh.

They also all know my name except this one fella calls me Shane hahaha

I don't think anything off it except they are giving excellent customer service.

Funny how McDonalds gets into the convo

    Anyways...

He asked for my name after I picked up my drink. I guess the reason why I couldn't decipher the difference was because he was very casual when talking with me so it made me think it was more of a customer service thing....but you then you have second thoughts icon_rolleyes.gif

This is the second barista to do this to me. The first one I knew he was gay and I told him I was. He said he had a feeling, but he said that he liked me because I seemed genuine and cute or something like that.
