Mitt Romney Destroys my Book Signing

This Saturday Mitt Romney will be speaking in Manassas, VA right next to the bookstore where I will be doing a book signing for my book, "Musings of a Dysfunctional Life." I've planned for this for two months. But they are going to close the road in front of the bookstore to pedestrian traffic for most of the day, effectively ruining my signing. I've sent this email to Team Romney.

My name is Victor Rook, and I am a Manassas resident and self-employed small businessman. I have scheduled and prepared diligently for two months for a book signing of my book, "Musings of a Dysfunctional Life," at Prospero's Bookstore on the corner of Church and West, which is next to the Harris Pavilion where Mitt will be speaking on Saturday. Your road closings effectively shut off pedestrian traffic to the store. I am scheduled to sign my book from 10 am - 6 pm.

I suggest you find a way to reimburse me for my time or make some kind of concession here, especially if Mitt really understands and appreciates hard-working people.

    Sincerely,

    Victor Rook

Mitt doesn't give a fuck about small businesses. Either be a giant corporation, or GTFO...that's his stance on business.

Have you ever done a book signing before? It's hard to get a good turnout even without any added distractions. Just be a good sport about it. Focus on marketing, writing, etc. Book signings are kind of a joke unless you're a celebrity. At least that's been my experience. Most of the people who show up to readings are authors--or wannabe authors. They can be fun, but it's just not the best way to sell books. The best way is through reviews, word of mouth, and book clubs. Good luck! icon_smile.gif

Watch. He will show up for your book signing. The title of your book sounds like it would be a good read for Mittens.

It is one of the best ways to develop word-of-mouth, talking with passerbys.

"Be a good sport about it." Are you kidding me?

Your letter to Team Romney should have said your book is entitled: "Musings of a Gay Hater". Romney and his entourage would have been all over the bookstore with the press in tow, before they discovered the truth. By then your book would have gotten priceless media exposure, with Romney's getting pwned adding to the coverage.

And seriously, sorry if this hurts your signing. icon_sad.gif

I meant, don't let it get to you, and take it in stride. I've published two novels, and I wouldn't want to dissuade you from signings. They will connect you with a handful of readers. It's really just a small part of selling books, though, especially if you're selling to an international audience. I could be wrong though. No one has the formula down. At any rate, let us know how it goes. Good luck. icon_smile.gif

I'm sure Team Obama would be kind enough to move on and support Americas Small businesses. Oh my and it's all Romney's fault too; albeit one is truly sorry to hear of your predicament.

Wow, that really sucks! I'm so sorry that your book signing was ruined. Keep us updated and let us know if the Romney campaign contacts you and tries to right their wrong.

This is a perfect example to illustrate that Republicans are selfish and only care about themselves!

You should contact the Obama campaign, emphasizing that you're a small businessperson. I'm sure they will be glad to help out.

Seems to me that with a little creative thinking the OP might be able to make this a "Turning Lemons Into Lemonade" moment and draw even more attention to his book-signing than he otherwise might have gotten.

And please, reassure Mittens that there is no need to panic.

In the days before the internet, that is how many men met for hook ups.

Everytime Obama comes to Los Angeles/Beverly Hills area they weld the manhole covers, stop air and street traffic. Its about 4x this year in the same 4 block area.
How about not even being able to actually walk to your house when it is in site? It happened this past year when Obama was at a fundraiser at Fig and Olive I was within 1 block and had to turn around and go back to the office.
You cannot even plan ahead for it.

You may blame Romney, but I do not blame Obama.

I am curious why is Romney to blame for this?
