Do you have a doppelganger?

I don't know if it's because I'm asian (this is not an anti-asian complaint thread), or what, but I have run into this problem many times, and now, in two cities (I moved last year). I have had people come up to me, or approach me online as though they know me. They're positive I'm someone they know and I HAVE NO IDEA WHO THEY ARE. Sometimes, they allude to making out (and I'm absolutely positive I haven't) or certain flirtatious statements. Or, that they know me from their friend who has slept with my doppelganger (because I don't know their friend either). Other times, they'll ask if I was somewhere doing something and not only was I not there, I wasn't even remotely close to that area. Usually, we resolve the issue because they tell me the name of the person they think I am, and it's clearly not me; but sometimes, they can't remember the guy's name and for some reason are convinced it's me.

I don't _think_ I'm that generic looking. I'm taller than most asians I know, and a little more built than most asians I know. I have never run into my doppelganger(s) in either city. Just curious if anyone else runs into this, or if it's just me.

Apparently I have one at CU. TheycallmeRED sees him all the time. Only difference is I'm 6'2" and he's 5'8". He says that apart from that it's quite the resemblance. I still haven't seen this kid, so RED might be making it all up.

I get that too. Someone says that they see my doppelganger around in Chicago over at one of the gay bars. I have yet to see him. Although there's a second doppelganger that is married to my friend. She and the rest of my family n our friends say that I look like him but I just don't see it at all.

I've been told that I have a doppelganger in Singapore too. Apparently, he is a Filipino. Some of my friends have seen him, and I used to have messages left on my mobile asking me if I was in a particular club. Never met him in person though.

I've been told several times I look like Miranda's husband on Sex in the City:

Apparently I have several doppelgangers and I'm always on the lookout for them.

Last summer I was jogging on the beach and a guy waved me over and told me how much he enjoyed meeting me last week, etc. I had never seen this guy in my whole life. I'm certain of it.

Twenty minutes later, still jogging down the beach, another guy sees me and goes, "Hey Jeremy (not my name) we gonna party tonight. . ." Again, didn't know this guy.

A few months ago I was producing a video shoot and one of the contacts swore he knew me. Really, I didn't.

At the Fresh Market a few weeks ago the checkout girl told me I looked like her brother.

This sort of thing happens a lot. And I don't think I'm generic-looking at all.

Do you ever run into the problem where they think you're pulling their leg when you tell them, "I am not the droi...er...person you are looking for," or something similar?

Yes I have had that happen before. A cute young Indian guy came up to me at a pride party (after staring at me) and said, "You look very familiar where do I know you from." I said I did not know, and then I said "Oh by the way this is my partner." I have a sneaking suspicion he was hitting on me and I wanted to make sure I set the record straight right off the bat.

Well, I'm going to bring the race card into this ...

I'm not sure what that area of Canada is like, but most parts of the US is white dominant. Whenever someone says they have seen me before, my first instinct nowadays is to joke, "All Asians look alike" because I'd say 50% of the time, possibly more, it's true, especially from a non-Asian person, given that we live in a white dominant world. It may be easier for Asians to distinguish among one another because we're around them more because of family and friends.

Of course, if this is an entirely different situation, sorry if I start causing wars! ...

Hmm and maybe mine was due to a red head thing. At the university I went to I was told by many people I had an "evil twin." Apparently they would see him in the cafeteria. I never did see him! I did let my friends know though that I was the evil one. icon_twisted.gif

I have one that was a singer in popular club here in Scottsdale. I would get phone calls all the time from people that would say how much they enjoyed my show the night before or they saw my picture in a magazine. I didn't really notice how much we looked alike until I saw a promotional piece in a magazine and I almost thought it was me too.

We the guy moved to Vegas now and is singing in one of the Casino's so I'm just waiting for someone to call me and tell me how much they enjoyed my Vegas show.

Did you know that someone seeing or you yourself seeing your doppelganger is an omen of your own death? icon_eek.gif

No, you must never "run in to them"
Running in to this alter-ego of self will destroy the time warp continuum and result in the catastrophic end of all mankind.

i had a doppelganger in high school, and we were in the same classes too. it was a trip, because people would run up to me, realize who i was and apologize profusely. even at our senior graduation banquet, when i was called to the podium to receive an award, the emcee (one of my classmates) joked, "Adrian....or Jay...whatever,.....come up" icon_lol.gif

one particularly hilarious time was when my classmate Erik, and myself were at our lockers, he was literally 2 feet away from me and facing me. He was talking to me and kept calling me "Jay" (the doppelganger) and yakking on and on like i was Jay. I had to stop him cuz i was starting to laugh, then he realized who i was. he was RED from embarrassment.

My friend found my doppelganger on YouTube.

He appears at the 0:05 and 1:35 marks:
