Once again you found an article that directly deals with the dangers faced by these brave people. I hope that through your efforts unfortunate people like her can find safety in Canada. Keep up the great work!

It's a difficult task for refugee boards. There have been fakes.

This I'm still wrapping my head around and am not seeing the logic, so please clear it up for me - see the bolded text.
    Thanks guys!

" Robert Aguda (32), a gay Ugandan recently moved to Canada from Uganda to study and decided to stay here for many of the same reasons as Nanziri. Robert was here only a short time before gossip in Toronto's Ugandan community (and rumors back home) forced him to take a drastic measure to ensure his safety. Robert traveled back to Uganda and had sex with a woman there until she became pregnant. He became a father in Africa so he is able to safely remain in Canada as a gay man."

I think that it means that the Ugandan's in Canada made him feel unsafe. I guess people can take their bigotry with them when they move to other countries.

    That was my initial thought.
Although I also wonder at the man not simply finding a Canadian girl to 'date'. I also am wondering (and the article is glaringly missing a timeline) about a refugee granted asylum who, it seems, afterwards goes back to his country of oppression and gets married.

I feel terrible for gay Ugandans. The outright fraud that has occurred over the years in refugee claims (we've accepted about 700 thousand refugees since 1989) has muddied the waters for them.

I am hoping that glbt Ugandans that could be tortured if sent back to their home country can find refuge in Canada and other countries. I am also hoping articles like this bring attention to their plight.
I do have to say, this article is not the best piece of journalism. It is oddly worded and confusing, starting with the headline. I noticed you added the "Lesbian Must Prove She Is A Lesbian To Canadian Officials" which can clarify things for us. That is not part of the original headline. It only says "LGBT Parenting through rape and torture." I hope that doesn't put another thought in a person's head just scanning the headlines.
