What were your favorite moments? What disappointed you? Who do you think the stars of the London Olympics were?

I love Missy Franklin and the fact that she is maintaining her amateur status to swim with her high school team. Oscar Pistorius is amazing, Gabby Douglas charming, I loved the long awaited gold medals for the US in freestyle wrestling and diving. As an old track and field guy, I was disappointed (but not surprised) that most of the bad sportsmanship and showboating and grandstanding came from the track and field telecasts. Usain Bolt may be fast but he's an asshole. I was surprised that, for me, the best gay viewing (purely aesthetic) was men's volleyball....a concentration of huge, hot men. And I'm happy that discus throwers got a little love and their own thread right here on RJ.

Even though the Canadian sprinting team was disqualified in the 4x100 relay, I do admire Jared Connaughton when he owned up to his mistakes.

If he did not complain about the rules, I would have more respect towards the guy.

Diving was my favorite because of how close it was. Ladies basketball was my least favorite because they might as well have just handed USA the gold during the opening ceremony.

Looking forward to the Spice Girls.

I did not like the televised coverage of the Olympic games by NBC for the US. Granted I was able to watch events live online, though more often than not the NBC feed did not have commentary.

One of my favorite moments was watching Andy Murray defeat Federer to take gold for men's single tennis. What a great moment for him and for Great Britain.

I am bias, but I think it was one of the best games ever!!

    Favourite British moments.....

Mo Farah double gold in the 5000m & 10000m

Sir Chris Hoy becoming the UK's most medalled athlete

Bradley Wiggins destroying the field in the Cycling time trial.

    Jess Ennis winning Heptathlon

Nicola Adams winning the first ever womens boxing gold medal.

The mens coxless 4s beating Australia in the rowing!

Actually i could go on all day!

Bar none Usain Bolt and his ego was the biggest turn-off of the games. My favorite moment was yesterday when Bob Costas, commenting on Usain Bolt, said "No need for us to tout Bolt's praises since he is clearly his own biggest fan"

High points were USA platform diver David Boudia winning the gold medal, the women's "Fab Five" gymnastics team gold medal win, Gabby Douglas' smile, Michael Phelps completing an amazing career, and the unforgettable and inspiring Oscar "The Blade Runner" Pistorius.

As a Frenchman and former pole vaulter, the highest point for me was Lavillenie wining the pole vault on his last attempt at 5.97.

The swimming rivalry in the beginning was fun for a while. I actually enjoyed watching the US ladies beach volleyball team kick ass.

I didn't enjoy NBC's Matt Lauer and Merideth Viera's dumb ass commentary over the opening ceremonies. If they were afraid we weren't going to understand it, then they should have put some captions on the bottom of the screen.

One of my favorite moments was the pure joy Dawn Harper and Kellie Wells displayed when they won silver and bronze in the hurdles. Even though they didn't win they both set personal bests in the finals and their attitude definitely displayed the true Olympic Spirit.

The US women winning the gold in gymnastics for only the second time was special as was seeing Gabby Douglas win the all around gold.

Seeing Michael Phelps get the all time record for medals was pretty amazing as well.

David Boudia shocking win yesterday was awesome because we have been down in diving for soooo long.

And of course Misty May and Kerri Walsh are pretty amazing.

Disappointments include Ryan Lochte. Sure his medal haul would be great for 99% of people but based on all of his OWN talk before the games in addition to all the hype he underperformed for sure.

Another would be the US men's gymnastic team. They were favorites to win gold and didn't place in the team competition and only 1 medal in individual competition.

For all of Bolt's showboating and posing and strutting when he actually sat down to an interview he was actually gracious and humble at least in his interviews with Canadian TV, he thanked his team a lot especially Yohan Blake. You can't deny that he is a great athlete and deserves the recognition

Overall the games were great, Canadian TV did a great job broadcasting and showed a huge range of events from 4am til 11pm they really covered it all. I'm disappointed in the Canadian team of course, we should have done better, there were too many people that did not live up to their potential in these games but there were some surprise moments as well, Gold in trampoline, bronze in the open water swim.

Really cool to see London come alive and the home team do extremely well

Mighty Mo's double gold was pretty spectacular. Ben Ainslie getting another sailing medal. I thought Gaby Douglas from the US gymnastics team was great too. The highlight was definitely the Brazilian men's volleyball team!

Disappointment was the crowd heckling the Japanese gymnastics team when they were reinstated to silver, relegating GB back down to bronze. Made me momentarily ashamed to be Briitsh.

    What were your favorite moments?

Seeing the men's gymnastics. It is always my favorite part of the Olympics. I loved that it made Danell Leyva a star (at least amongst the gays).

Oscar Pistorius and his amazing back story. And to see him compete. He is one sexy guy. Plus, he likes the adoration from the gay guys. icon_biggrin.gif

    What disappointed you?

The coverage from NBC and the USA basketball team almost losing to Spain and Lithuania.

Who do you think the stars of the London Olympics were?
    Danell Leyva
    Gabby Douglas
    Oscar Pistorius
    Tom Daley
Ryan Lochte (offered two reality shows...really?!!)

Over all, this olympics came and went in a hurry and because of travel I was only able to catch it in fragments.

I did not like the NBC coverage. I didn't like the narration of the stories and was turned off by some of the questions they asked the athletes who lost or didn't get the medal they wanted. Particularly the questions aimed at Lochte and Phelps when they lost were pretty disrespectful.
