Groups opposed to gay rights are applauding Mitt Romney's selection of Wisconsin Rep. Paul Ryan as his running mate.
Ryan scored zero on the Human Rights Campaign's (HRC) latest Congressional Scorecard, a measure of an elected official's support for gay rights. The 42-year-old congressman twice voted in support of the failed Federal Marriage Amendment, which would amend the U.S. Constitution to define marriage as a heterosexual union. He also voted against repeal of “Don't Ask, Don't Tell.” In 2007, he voted in favor of a version of the Employment Non-Discrimination Act (ENDA) which would outlaw workplace discrimination based on sexual orientation. The current version of the bill, which the House has not voted on, adds gender identity.
“Paul Ryan is a great choice. He has one little blip in that he voted for ENDA (Employment Non-Discrimination Act) a long time ago but voted right on the marriage amendment and supports the unborn. Plus, I get to pull back out my t-shirt from 2008 that says ‘Our VP is hotter than your VP!’ Bonus,” Concerned Women for America's Penny Nance wrote.
Ralph Reed, founder of the Faith and Freedom Coalition, described the selection of Ryan as “inspired” and “outstanding.”
“He is a person of devout Christian faith who has a 100 percent pro-life and pro-family voting record in his 14 years in Congress,” Reed said.
Tony Perkins, president of the Family Research Council, said Ryan's voting record “suggests that he believes that social, fiscal and national security conservatism is indivisible.”

If this is not an eye opener for gay republicans, they are more stupid than I though (including CuriousJockAZ, whom I met in person).

Any gay guy who votes for Mitt during this election is voting against his own rights. Sure, you can say "public opinion will override the President's opposition" but this is not the case with Republican presidents. GWB proved that with his invasion of Iraq, when he went against all popular votes to invade.

That's exactly what Mitt will do with gay rights. Gay repubs think they're voting for a better economy. They might be right, but they better go back in the closet and have a girlfriend if they want those rights, because they won't be available to openly gay people.

BTW, if you're gay and plan on voting for Mitt, be prepared to spend your lonely nights at rest areas and dimly lit public parks, because that's what you'll be left with when gays are stripped of their rights. Even RJ could cease to exist.

The thing that scares me more then him even being against us getting married and wanting to repeal DADT is he is in favor that if your are openly gay it is okay for your place of employment to fire you for it.

Like Seriously that is fucked up. The fact that my work if I came out to them could fire me for no other reason then I was gay and I not be protected by the law is crazy in America in 2012 is nuts.

How any gay man who has any respect for himself can vote for these bigots is beyond me.

Fortunately the owner of the company I work for accept gays. If I decide to get a new job, this could be detrimental.

I have no problem being "inconspicuous" since I have predominately masculine mannerisms, but going back in the closet is not an option. I've been "out" since 1991 and don't plan to change that for anyone.

It just boggles my mind that in America, the supposed land of the free and where everyone comes for equality, we have two men trying to run on a ticket in office that is basically pro discrimination and bigotry. The sadder part is seeing other gay men having absolutely no problem voting for people like this. People who hate them. People who fear them. People who want to take away their rights and prevent them from having any rights.People who if they knew they were gay would not want anything to do with them and believe they are 2nd class citizens. And they wonder why many people call them self hating gays.

If these two idiots get into office we are in real trouble. The gays and the entire country as a whole. icon_neutral.gif

Can't you just imagine all the gay's lining up to back Romney and Ryan. I think they should get some "I'M GAY AND SUPPORTING MY ENEMIES TO VOTE FOR ROMNEY" Tshirts printed up so they can spread the news of their support.

Hell !!! Its the least they can do !!! These gay republicans should sport these T's and go to TBagger, Christian Fundi and Birther Rallies with their fellow republican partners. THEY SHOULD TAKE VIDS OF THE REACTIONS WHILE AMONG THEIR FRIENDS.

    LMAO !!!

BTW, CuriousJockAZ (Todd), you have my ph#.

Feel free to call. You already know I won't be mean.

If you remember, when we met, I said I'd probably vote for Romney if it weren't for his policy against gays, and I thought the public would sway his opinion.

Now I've changed my mind. Not only has he kept his stance against gays, he's opted for a "partner in crime" who'll stand beside him in his fight AGAINST gay rights.

This affects all of us. If you vote Repub, you're voting against yourself. All of your real estate will be worthless because nobody will want to buy from a faggot.

Well, Romney does want to ban Internet porn:

I bet he'd stretch the definition of Internet porn to include RJ - so I think you're correct.

This election is huge. It's not a decision between political and economic viewpoints. It's a decision between right and wrong.

Either we vote for a candidate that promotes our rights as equal citizens, or we vote against ourselves.

The only exception is voting Independent, which is what I'm more likely to vote for (currently undecided). I don't agree with Obama or Mitt when it comes to politics. Both are fucking evil. This country needs a "real" change. And nobody from the Independent party has expressed views for or against gays.

Dear Paul: Wonderful posts! To an excellent thread started by David4985. I've rarely heard you so impassioned and expressive on political topics.

Now expect Todd to play his usual dishonest shell game. Maybe a repeat of what he does with his "love" for homophobic AZ Gov. Jan Brewer.

If he tells you he has "serious doubts" about Romney, and "less respect" for him, just like he's said about Brewer, then you absolutely know he's totally a Romney supporter. Until Todd says he's endorsing Obama (which he never will), then despite all his tap dancing you'll know he actually wants to elect the most anti-gay Administration in US history.

I'm glad some guys here see through this deception, and realize that gay rights are human rights. And if our government cannot guarantee our rights, or worse, is pledged to remove them as Romney has, then the government is no longer the guardian of the people, but their enemy.
