Last time I talked with "God" (early 1990's) he told me to fuck off and go to hell 'cause I'm gay.

actually a person said that. If God exists, no one knows what it wants or thinks.

Read the whole thing. Sounds completely atheistic and based entirely on his imagination. Infinite knowledge or universal knowledge will never say anything like that to a human. Its a rather entertaining piece of fiction.

    +1

He claims to be an atheist and a computer scientist, then goes on to explain how this god both dismisses religion and urges us toward a purely informational future, as opposed to biological. I kind of liked the story, though.

Didnt Paul Tillich, the Theologian/guy who wrote about anxiety, say that we each experience god as the ground of our being. Then maybe he did meet god. In the story, god is clearly a certain kind of mirror of the writer.

I think it was Hemingway (but it might have been Mailer) who said, "If there is a God, he has a hell of a lot of explaining to do."

I wonder if he was speaking in general terms or specifically about why his mother dressed him up as a little girl when he was a child. icon_wink.gif

You weren't talking to "God". Someone else interjected into your conversation.

Unless that God chooses to reveal Himself, which is what presupposes Judeo-Christian traditions, through which He has revealed Himself to not only be personal and involved in the affairs of mankind, but that being All Love and Merciful, He would go through great extents to redeem them Himself.

No matter what anyone believes... the basic way your relationship works with YOUR Almighty is that it is Strictly between You and THEM. Unless you're ignorant about the teachings of your beliefs, you really don't need anyone else to tell you what... which makes most people mad in the first place. icon_wink.gificon_idea.gificon_idea.gif

Interesting read. Not sure if I really believe the man, but he makes good points that brilliantly describes the self destruction of the human race- which included religion. It's especially interesting because, lately, I've been noticing a lot of propaganda and global protests happening. I've been convincing myself that the world is on the verge of simotaniously uniting (through the internet and other technological advancements) against the threat of our "handlers" - In which a global revolution could spiral out of control, initiating the real danger. Seeing that his answer to "why now?" was:

Why now? Well partly because both you and the web are ready now. But chiefly because the human race is reaching a critical phase. It goes back to what we were saying about the dangers of knowledge. Essentially your species is becoming aware of that danger

the last time God and i had a conversation, i found myself committed to an institution. "hey this is not my jacket, and why are the walls all rubber?"
