Hawaii or Miami Beach? Please help can't decide.

I'm thinking of taking a Christmas trip to either Hawaii or Miami Beach but can't decide which place to choose. I would appreciate any feedback on which place would be a better choice; also which place may or may not be a better host during the Christmas holiday?

Miami Beach, because it's warm enough to swim in the ocean.

Hawaii is a place like no other. The beaches are awesome, it has a complete island vacation relaxed feel, the scenery is amazing (the H3 to the other side of Oahu is something you will never forget) and there is plenty to do.
Miami is just another mainland city with a beach (a very nice one though).

Oahu is okay stay, away from Waikiki, unless it's your first trip then you should at least check it out.

Miami =/= Miami Beach. They're two separate towns.

Geographically incorrect. Miami Beach is one town. All the action is from 23rd street down to South Pointe

All the old shitty drivers are from 24th street up to 163rd.

I've been to both, Miami just this past weekend. Going back to Hawai'i in 2014 for my 40th b-day. I say, go to Hawai'i. It's amazing. Though Honolulu is the only real gay party spot there, vs SoBe and Miami being more party central-ish. But if you just want to lie on the beach, eat, sleep, relax...Hawai'i is your place.

Yes, but the waters of Hawaii are more than warm enough. I'll be there in 53 days!

You're from jersey so it's closer for you to go to Miami or Puerto Rico as opposed to Hawaii. But if you have unlimited time and money, go to Hawaii.

He is going there at Christmas... not 14 AUG.
That's why I prefer Miami. The temps at Christmas aren't much different from the temps at Aug 14.

Good question. I went to NYC last Xmas/NY. I am wondering where to go this coming Xmas. I loved NYC, because, while you got a bit of holiday atmosphere, the whole place did not shut down. I am tempted to return this Xmas. My only reservation is, the weather was sunny and almost spring-like last time and I cannot see that happening again. Can anyone recommend another big city that is walkable, does not completely close down at Xmas and has a reasonable climate?

Been to both over Christmas. Hawaii would be my pick. In fact I'll be there again this Christmas! First time to Kauai.

While I normally recommend Hawaii (I love Hawaii, all the islands), Xmas time gets its fair share of breeders since their kids are on breaks.

In short, Hawaii is packed at Xmas time, and you not only get to pay more for "high season," you also get to deal with extra congestion.

Miami will likely be the same as well.

In general, I get annoyed traveling in North America during the holidays. You'll typically see me in Asia where it's warm, cheap, and devoid of obnoxious Americans. icon_smile.gif

I've been to both, many, many, times for up to 3 weeks at a time. Both are amazing but I'll take Miami Beach any day because it's a short inexpensive drive for me now. Go to both and make your own decision though! :-)
