So is this what devoted Christians do??--purposely provide sexual temptation to young girls and gay guys?
Begs the question WWJD??... Surely not this....

I don't think people would be so into him if he weren't a famous professional athlete. He's not bad looking or anything but there are guys on here with better bodies and faces.

The man does have a lot of charisma though. Definitely have to give him that one though I'm not sure about posing in the form of Jesus on the Cross. That seems like a bad choice.....

But he IS a professional athlete...and a damn FINE one at that.

P.S. It should be noted that the picture of him with his arms stretched out was taken back when he was a collegiate Heisman-Trophy-winning National championship-winning quarterback, it was not taken specifically for this GQ shoot

Actually look at his stance and compare it to the Jesuses found on crucifixes. It seems Tebow has a Jesus complex. All he's missing is a crown of thorns and the stigmata.

Haha, being into him just because he's a professional athlete is a bit silly. It's more a projection of a fantasy than anything else and, in my experience, the fantasy always winds up being better than the reality.

And as far as his career goes, I think the jury is still out on how good a professional athlete he is. He had a good half season for the Broncos but nothing incredible. Sure, he might have been the starter if Peyton Manning hadn't been available but that wasn't guaranteed. Broncos were smart to upgrade at QB. They got lucky they got as big an upgrade as they did but I'd argue Orton was better than Tebow.

All I can think is "Jesus can't play football 'cause his dad would rig the game".

I disagree. Any football player can get hurt. No matter how you slice it, Manning is a better QB than Tebow.

If a gay photographer had unveiled that in an exhibition, I wonder how fundamentalist xtians would react.

(I recall how my more strict Catholic relatives in Qu├ębec absolutely forbid their their kids to buy Jesus Christ Superstar when it first came out.

this image would have been seen as being sacriligious and offensive for likening a mere football player to the Saviour.

Well, I hope so, he's been at it 11 more years than Tebow has. Give Tim another decade and then let's have this discussion. That being said --- dealing with the HERE & NOW, not past performance --- it's debatable and yet to be seen if Peyton Manning post-injury can A) perform at the level he did in the past, and B) whether or not he is more prone to injury. http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2012/08/14/peyton-manning-im-36-my-arm-isnt-the-same-as-when-i-was-22/

Manning's 36 year old arm is still better than Tebow's 22 year old arm. And I'll take his game prep and ability to read the field over Tebow's to boot. He's more accurate, even at 36 and throws a better deep ball. His neck may splinter like a book of cheap matches but Tebow running the Wildcat is just as likely to be injured - running QBs don't do all that well in the NFL. Sure, some have been really good, but not as good as a true pocket passer. But hey, if you want to play the "let's talk in 11 years card" so be it.....but I think we'll be able to have that discussion a lot sooner since I doubt either Tebow or Manning plays that long.

Maybe a six pack of Capri Suns...there's definitely some extra squish there.

I'm not the least bit religious and even I find that photo in poor taste. It seems to trivialize what Jesus-on-the-cross is supposed to represent to the faithful, making it a foolish sports-based riff, and unnecessarily sexualized.
