Is it weird...

Is it weird to travel alone?

I have so many cities (both within the US and outside) that I have wanted to go to for a log time now and it never seems like i have somebody willing/able to go with me. I now have a flexible enough job that i can take whatever time i want, so now is the time for me.

My only reservation is that i'm not sure if i'd fully experience each location without a travel buddy. I don't know that i'd go out and do things on my own.

Does anybody have any experiences traveling alone? If you recommend against it, any tips on finding travel companions?

I wouldn't travel alone. Seems rather lonely.

My sister just left for Vancouver a couple days ago alone to experience it.

I like exploring new cities at my own pace. But I have to admit that I get bored pretty easy. So I no longer take long trips by myself. They're more like 2 - 3 day trips now.

So where do you find people to travel with? Are they always just friends?

Siblings can make good travel partners. Or ask a good friend to come along with you.
    Traveling alone seems very daring.

I'm less worried about my safety and more so about my boredom.

My siblings are either occupied, or not the traveling type. (my little brother still feels uncomfortable ordering food at restaurants... i can't imagine him doing well speaking to random people in foreign countries)

You can always do the tour group thing. You won't have as much freedom to roam around on your own. But at least you'll be with other people.

I went to Toronto by myself and ended up staying longer than planned. Once I made a friend there I had a great time.

I've travelled alone, and it sucks. I get bored too easily, and I end up not taking advantage of my time. I haven't travelled in a very long time. I'd like to do it again, but I can't find someone to go with me.

I used to do it a lot when I'd visit family, when I lived in Boston. Business men do it all the time. Just don't go anywhere you can't read about in the first newspaper or magazine about the area you're in, and you should be fine. I miss traveling so much.

Ideally, i'd love to just meet people in each location i went. How realistic is that though?

Also, i'm not TOO familiar with the forums here, but would RJ be a decent place to find a travel buddy, or no?

Traveling with my friends always disturbs me somehow as my friends always have different tastes than mine. I prefer to travel alone since I have realized my core interests in traveling.

But, surprisingly you never travel alone. You travel solo. Someone from somewhere always give you a good company. No matter for how much time but someone you find always interesting while you travel alone.

Traveling alone gives me the courage to come out of any situation as there won't be anyone to help me at the very moment. I would rather prefer a would tour all my myself, or only with my partner if I got one...LOL

This page might help you explore this topic ahead :-)

    Happy traveling !!

Some people love and swear by it, others don't. I hate it and never do it.

That depends on you. I'm too shy and introverted to do that. It's my curse.
