I used to have an affinity for certain names, but as I met more people with those names that mindset stopped.

For example, I used to think everyone named Paul was cool. Then as I met more Pauls, some of them turned out to be dweebs and douches.

I have dated or had crushes on five different Stevens: Steven O (my most recent 4+ yr relationship), Stephen, Steve, Stefano, and Steph.

I used to think Sarahs were in my life for a reason (they've usually been great friends) until I got drunk and told one about how I always have someone named Sarah in my life and she thought I was cracking onto her. No more Sarahs after that mess.

Was thinking something like this the other day... most guys I date or am attracted to, their names have something to do with the Earth or the Bible... though most cites I've lived in are either near bodies of water, or named directly or indirectly for something to do with bodies of water. Oh, and birds are in both my maternal and paternal surnames.

Every few years I seem to suddenly meet a bunch of guys with all the same first name. A few years ago it was Andrew. Prior to that it was Michael. But they were just acquaintances/co-workers and it wasn't like I didn't get along with them.

I had a boss named Larry. He has soured me on that name forever.

This thread is a good place to remind people not to give weird names to their kids. At my place of employment we all had a chance to interview job candidates. I remember one girl was dismissed out of hand because her name was Ridgely. Everyone said they couldn't bear to call her by that name all day long. To this day she doesn't know her name kept her from being considered for a job.

Never met a girl named Haley that I didn't get along with great. And the name Ian now generates feelings of dislike.

I don't really see a pattern in the names of the people I get along with and don't.

I always seem to get along with other Jacks, buuut it might just be because we have the same name, so it's like our own club.
