Hmmmm, is this like a national GOP coming out day event? Will elected official be picking up their batons and donning their Dorothy outfits for the event?

Do you think that the GOP will let GoProud and/or the Log Cabin Republicans into the actual convention? Or is this Homocon event the only option for them?

How DARE they include gays in their convention!! They might as well hang a sign on the local highways telling gays they're not welcome. And screen for anyone that comes into the Bay area for having participated in homosexual activities!

This is ALMOST as repulsive as Obama coming out in "personal" support of gay marriage less than a year before the election after sitting on his hands on the topic for the first three years of his presidency. And then shrugging the whole matter off as a state-level decision. "Evolution" my ass! More like pandering to voters and creating divisiveness is politics. Lest we forget that he ran on a platform AGAINST gay marriage in 2008.

I'm tired of politicians using gay rights whenever it's politically convenient for them, and then turning their backs on the topic once they're elected.

JackBlair69 said“If you’re born gay, why would you be liberal? Are you born liberal?" --Ann Coulter.

Richard Grenell jumped through all the hoops. He uttered all the scripted talking points. He bowed and bended like a good boy.

Still, it wasn't enough. Rmoney fired him the second the heat from Bryan Fisher stared up.

You can wear yourself out for the Man, but the Man will not have any love for you.

He's a fundraiser. A schmoozer. A lobbyist. A cocktail personality who fancies himself some sort of level-headed, one-of-the-boys activists.

    Or something.

I found this press release interesting--it helps to explain where GOProud stands.

I interviewed La Salva once, I can dig up my writeup for anybody that wants to hit me up offlist. If you had to summarize their beliefs, you could take every position HRC has ever taken and pretty much they are the opposite. Example: They don't believe in hate crimes laws, they believe in more guns for self protection. Go figure.

The Market takes care of hate crimes.

    So does more guns!

Obviously they are aware of anti-gay influences in the republican party.

How they respond to anti-gay sentiments within the party I don't know--but obviously they don't agree with them. Isn't it ok for the republican party to be heterogenous?

To be fair, I don't know much about GOProud, except what I only just read.

So what exactly are your feelings on the Grenell kerfuffle?

Because it does seem really hard to defend.

Grenell was fired by Rmoney, his beloved boss. At the behest of Bryan Fisher.

    For. Fucking. Being. Gay.

    His call.

    Jesus...

    WOW.

    That's not an opinion.

    It's called empirical reality.

    Doesn't that undercut GoProud's go-with-flow-and-they'll-get-used-to-us mission statement?

    Anything?

    Anything?

In my mind, more guns is a bad thing. More guns means more gun violence. No guns, no gun violence. It's that simple. And an individual with a revolver in their night drawer is hardly a "well regulated militia".

    Yes, that's correct.

Why would that be a bad thing? We just happen to believe that an individual has tremendous ability to defend himself, without being restricted from doing so by the State.

If you can't even confront truth, why would any sane person want to know you?

And I reserve the right to call bullshit on provable mischaracterizations of reality.

    That's called being sentient.

    YIKES.

Have I told you that I find cogent, intelligent argument incredibly sexy? Which is why your post won't be causing me to sit at attention anytime soon!

And that's in your mind. Fine.

I will exercise my right to defend myself as I see fit. HRC may not like that, and would prefer that I rely on the loving and all-protecting State.

HRC (and GLAAD, and PFLAG, and GMHC, etc.) can heat it until it is comfortably warm, pour it in the bottle, screw the nipple on, and SUCK IT.
