I understand masculine usually refers to a guy's appearance. But what about the type of sex? Met a guy who was very concerned about whether I was masculine. When we hooked up, he just wanted to get sucked off, with no other physical contact. Same for bottoming. I found this to be a very sterile and boring way to have sex. Is this a common way of having sex among "masc" guys?

No, just the insecure, self-loathing ones.
Want to get him to stop texting for his next bj, send him flowers.

If he was so masculine, he wouldn't have been afraid to put your dick in his mouth.

You wanted to play versatile with him but he wanted to play top with you.

A top is a guy who sucks dick, just not yours.

    Forget it Jake, it's chemistry.

I've been with a guy like that (early 20's - had recently 'came out').

Fortunately I was able to get him to admit being bisexual, with a preference for female. And I also got him to allow me to touch his muscles while he flexed (he was ripped), which as everyone knows, is my favorite fetish.

But ultimately I had to tell him to go fuck himself cause he couldn't get past his own homophobia. He knew he was bi, but wouldn't even mention that word to anyone but me...not even his girlfriends, who would have welcomed the idea.

    A Mormon closet case
... thou shalt not lie with men as with woman .... but sex is ok as long as you don't do it like you would with a woman

It was one bad experience. Don't let it get to you and don't put too much thought into it! There could have been a hundred reasons why he acted like that.

thanks for the comments. they definitely make sense. I think self-absorbed is the simple explanation. i knew what i was going into, more or less. but i can't say i enjoyed being the human version of a flesh jack. just go buy one of those.

He's trying to strip out the intimacy of sex while still having the pleasure. I don't get why he didn't tell you upfront that he just wanted to be serviced and nothing more. This is about role playing and both parties have to cherish their role or it doesn't work.

I've found myself in the opposite situation where the guy only wants to service me and nothing else. Since I usually find guys I meet on the net fall well short of the photos they send this is usually fine with me. If a guy gives a good bj and all he wants is for me to sit back and enjoy it then I won't bitch about him not looking as good as his pictures. One time, though, the guy was young and just as hot as his pics. He didn't want me to kiss him or anything else. He just wanted to service me. Ironically the fact that I found him hot made it much harder for me to play cold macho role. He seemed so mechanical and unemotional if felt like I was paying him to do it. The whole time I instinctively wanted to become affectionate with him but he just wanted to suck away. In the end I found this instincted got in the way of me achieving an orgasm.

What I don't like is that he wasn't upfront with you before you met. He was trying to trap you into performing a role you were not comfortable with. In my case the young guy was quite clear of what he wanted so I don't blame him for turning down my affections. But I dol feel the blow and go lacks intimacy and is way overrated and this is coming from the guy who always receives the bj. Give me full on love making followed by a nice dinner and stimulating conversation any day. But I get it, in a world that orders in sex like they order Pizza what I like isn't on the menu.
