New Poll Finds Only 6% of Tea Party Political Group Supports Same-Sex Marriage

"While Democrats came in with 68% support for same-sex marriage, Independents with 57%, and Republicans with only 30%, a mere 6% of Tea Party members said they support same-sex marriage. No other group was close to that low support level. Even Republican religious values voters (along with pro-government conservatives) came in at 11%, almost twice the rate of Tea Party Republicans.
Perhaps what many might find most-shocking is that the Tea Party, since its inception, has claimed their only concerns are smaller government and lower taxes, despite all evidence to the contrary."

There are a bunch of dumbass's that believe the hype of the tea party, yes, some gay too. I sometimes wonder why there is an appeal to the tea party. My guess is that because like all the political party's, there are some things that people like that they stand for. People will over-look some of the things those same party's stand for because they don't effect them to a great degree and they have a 'belief' that something else that they believe in is more important. This importance, many times is based on the mass marketing message that "this is the life you need and want".

The poll is not really that surprising considering that the Tea party darling, Michelle Bachmann, is one of the most hateful, anti-gay members of congress.

Remember back when they were claiming they weren't all Republicans? And that plenty of them were Democrats?

    Tee hee. They so silly.

Did they really have the guts to say that? Oh yeah, I seem to remember it - though filed it under "obvious lies that I neednĀ“t remember as time will show to be false".

Yup. and I remember them making claims they were being bullied when they were called "tea baggers" and equating that with anti-gay bullying.

The Tea Party tries to pretend to be some new movement, but they're the same old bunch of angry white bigots who have been dominating the Republican Party for the last two decades. The only thing "new" about them is the election of an African American president sent their anger into overdrive and they decided his centrist (I would say meek) policies are "socialism" "communism," and a bunch of other words they don't know the meanings to.

I live in DC and have seen two huge Tea Party gatherings, and they are all post-retirement-age white people, who I'm sure are all on Medicare. It's funny and sad to hear them rail against the government involvement in health care, when it's the government who's taking care of them from now until they die.

Tea Party-ers say they are against government social programs, but how many of them have refused their Social Security checks or Medicare reimbursements?
Oh, that's right, they're against all those social programs except the ones THEY benefit from.
    Typical Conservatives.
