    quoted from article:

"Mitt Romney and his running mate, Rep. Paul Ryan, however, support DOMA and oppose the right of same-sex couples to marry, which likely will have an impact on the final language adopted by the platform drafters."

And yet their chosen candidates oppose same-sex marriage, civil unions, the repeal of DADT, and ending employment discrimination against glbt people. Not really much respect, is it?

The statement the Republicans MAY include does not say anything about gay people!
This is a completely misleading story.
The Republicans hate gays far too much to ever say anything positive about them. The only things Republicans have to say about gays are hateful and negative.

Very true. This is the actual statement some are trying to include:

"We embrace the principle that all Americans have the right to be treated with dignity and respect,"

They can't even bring themselves to say words like "gay", "lesbian", or "transgendered", unless being used in a negative context.

"We embrace the principle that all Americans have the right to be treated with dignity and respect,"

...and what does that actually mean really? What are they saying they will do to show dignity and respect to all Americans?

No, it means they'll say anything and everything to get the vote, then they'll turn around a blow it all out of the water just like most politicians.

This year’s document will continue to express support for the Defense of Marriage Act and a federal constitutional amendment that would ban same-sex marriage, according to a Log Cabin Republicans official involved with the drafting process.

Of the party's apparent position, Wolfson said, "It's actually tragic to see a party that professes its beliefs in values such as freedom, limited government and personal responsibility taking such an extreme position in favor of denial, exclusion and the undermining of constitutional safeguards, not to mention attacking families seeking the commitment of marriage."

THIS is why I told the GOP to go fuck themselves 20 yrs ago!

" “We embrace the principle that all Americans have the right to be treated with dignity and respect,” which would be a “positive nod” in the direction of LGBT people. The language does not specifically mention sexual orientation or gender identity, but Log Cabin executive director R. Clarke Cooper said discussions were “still early in the process.”

    TALK ABOUT BEGGING FOR CRUMBS!

A single platitude in the Republican Platform that DOES NOT mention sexual orientation .......is seen by the executive director of LOG CABIN...........as a
"POSITIVE NOD" IN THE DIRECTION OF LGBT PEOPLE".

    HOW PATHETIC !

Apparently even this is too much for GOProud. They are now blaming Log Cabin Republicans of causing problems by simply bringing up the subject of gay marriage. GOProud is a joke and completely worthless.
