There was a recent discussion about the HIV epidemic back in the 80's and how people's reactions have evolved and some of you had some great suggestions for books to read (stories of people's lives ). I'm wondering if anyone could point me to that thread or offer suggestions. I'm looking at new books to read.

People seem to forget about the current HIV/AIDS epidemic that's currently happening with people who use heroin (and other intravenous drugs) and share needles.

It's that we're seeing the origin in a whole new light, which arguably shapes how we view the virus now. I mean, it really wasn't all that long ago that it was accepted thought that the virus's spread was the result of sex between a Canadian flight attendant and an infected green monkey -- a canard still bandied about in certain circles.
