What would your reaction be if Mitt Romney won? It would be interesting to see how many people will thought they will react.

I'm not overly thrilled with either candidate, so I am not real sure if I will feel all that differently regardless of who wins. However, if Romney wins it will be exciting to have a new team in place and see what they are able to accomplish with the economy and jobs, etc. I am not really concerned all that much on the social issues because I feel the tide is turning in our favor (albeit ever so slowly) regardless of who is President.

My reaction would be sadness and embarassment for my country for the ignorance that would put us back in the hands of Bush Politics that got us into this mess in the first place.

Sadness in knowing that the complete demise of the American Middle class will soon follow the republicans regaining the white house, because they exist totally at the behest of the corporations and the top 2% holders of American Wealth.

Sadness in knowing that with the Repubs back in power that we are in for a very long recession, because they don't seem to understand that it takes spending money in the hands of the masses to create orders for goods and services, not more excess money in the hands of he few wealthy and corporations. Republicans are hell bent on squeezing money away from the middle, lower incomes and the poor, which will only worsen the recession.

Sadness at the safety net losses that the elderly, handicapped and very low income families will certainly suffer at the hands of the repubs.

Sadness that our country will be back under the misguided leading of the Bush NEO CONS who led us to war in Iraq and whom are even now pushing for another war, this one with Iran. With Romney's using Bush's leftover NEO CONS as his advisors, we can plan on US interference around the world and on blowback terrorism that their adventurism invites. We can plan on our sons dieing for their lies.

It would be a sad day. I honestly do not think that would be good for the US. He has not offered anything that will bring about positive change in this country. And seeing the Supreme Court move even more to the right would not be good either. Yay, a government that is even more intrusive into peoples private lives. Yay wealthy...and fuck everyone else. Say goodbye to being able to write off my mortgage interest. I will probably have to sell my home. I think that alone will push a lot of people over the edge.

    GlamourShotsJock says

" if Romney wins it will be exciting to have a new team in place and see what they are able to accomplish with the economy and jobs "

"EXCITING" in a hysterical scramble sort of way--------as the Romney/Ryan team realize they have no idea how to both butcher the deficit and stimulate the economy.

"EXCITING" it will be when ROMNEY CONTINUES SPEAKING OUT OF BOTH SIDES OF HIS MOUTH to our international partners.......to the business community.

We don't need "exciting". This recovery needs stability.

YES, we are on the road to greater social tolerance of differences.......BUT EQUALITY FOR ALL can be reversed.

REPUBLICANS ARE COMMITTED TO REVERSING GAY EQUALITY.
Romney has pledged to DEFEND(edited for clarity) DOMA.

"Social Issues" are also vital to our economy. EQUALITY FOR ALL creates the environment necessary for everyone to express their talents.....to be their most productive.

Funny thing that's been happening in the world of reality now for about 12 years. Republicans have for all intents and purposes been in control of or at least blocking anything they could that wan't their idea involving the economy,

SO HOW DO YOU LIKE THEIR ECONOMY ? UNDER ROMNEY IT WILL BE NOTHING BUT MORE OF THE SAME BUSH ECONOMY.

He said "reversing" gay equality. Clinton was president in the 1990s. That's history.icon_rolleyes.gif

I'd live. Not optimal, but as an adult I lived through 8 years of Reagan, 4 years of Bush 41, and 8 years of Bush 43. You can't win 'em all.

    MITT HAS MADE HIMSELF CLEAR:

" Certainly I would defend the Defense of Marriage Act which the current president has refused to defend. I believe that the Defense of Marriage Act was well constructed and should be maintained. "

November 9, 2011: Romney meeting with the editorial board of the Des Moines Register.

I'm well aware of what Romney said, however it won't be up to him, thankfully, it will be up to the congress to either uphold or strike down DOMA. It may even end up being something decided by The Supreme Court. Regardless, it will not be up to Romney, regardless of what he feels about gay marriage.

TO A REPUBLICAN CONGRESS(which is the goal of the RNC, right?)

I BELIEVE HE'LL BE ABLE TO PERSUADE THEM TO UPHOLD DOMA.

Mitt may have no leadership qualities.........but when it comes to convincing a Far Right Congress to follow their bigoted instincts, he'll do just fine.

First, you need money so you need to build a casino on the Gay and Lesbian Kingdom of the Coral Sea Islands. I'm sure that we can find investors. Then we use some of the proceeds to create a GLBT army....lol.....and when a country threatens to kill glbt people, we will act like north korea and pretend that we are going to war with them if they do anything.

We can create a big building and tell everyone that we have nuclear weapons in there but it will actually be a fabulous cat walk....lol

The difference being that, while the Democrats are busy helping to turn the tide in favour of gay equality, the Republicans are contentedly sitting in the stagnant cesspool of intolerance.

I find many of the opinions express so far interesting. Especially the one that involve creating a gay country inside of the United State. That would not help much. Mitt Romney does not seem like someone that bad outside, but I am sure he could be quite deadly.

    Nonsense.

Whoever is president for the next four years will have the opportunity to place more justices on the SCOTUS.

President Obama would select justices who support equal rights for gay Americans.

Romney would pick anti-gay right-wing bigots who oppose equal rights for gay Americans.

It's essential that we get our asses to the polls in November to vote a straight Democratic ticket - so we'll have a president and a Congress that's on our side.

And so the Repubs aren't able to reimplement the same failed Bush economic policies that wrecked the economy to begin with.
