A lot of people have this idea that gay men are all about hot muscles and the cute face and beauty. What they do not know, is not all of us focus on that. Or at least that's not all we focus on. So, would you date a guy if he smells terrible? If a hot guy, who fits your every requirement in the physical sense, asks you out but he smells like the rotten egg or he just crawl out of the septic tank. Would you still date him?

No, that's a deal breaker. I don't want to have to hold my breathe the entire date just to see if someone is compatible.

I'd try to figure out why he smelled and if it could be remedied.

Over the years I knew a couple of people who had thyroid problems and they emitted a truly horrid smell. I think that when they took their medicine the smell stopped. I never dated them but when I found out what the smell was I apparently ignored the smell since they were very nice and fun to be with.

I was once going out with this really good looking guy, but, whenever i would get near him or get in his car, the smell was so bad i just couldnt take it, it wasnt a one time thing plus his breath was meh, so hygiene is a must.

There's a reason behind the smell. I had a friend that smell exactly like a skunk. The problem. He just found out he was HIV+ and the stress caused his pits to stink really bad. Now 10 years later he doesn't smell. Guys at the gym that smell like hamburger meat (they eat hamburgers and junk food).

I once dated a guy who did not smell bad until we started fooling around in bed. Some sort of stench just started coming out. I normally don't have to cut out sex especially in the middle of it but it was so bad that I had to leave. icon_sad.gif

I guess my answer is no.

Yes.... but i'd clean him up.... depends on the smell though. If it's garlic or onions i'd have to eat the same.

Chainers saidWhat if the bad smell turns you on?

    Typical chainers answer

edit: I meant in the good way. Not a lot of people do these kind of reverse thinking. It's good.

There was this guy at my college gym who looked and was built like the porn star Hussein, pretty much my most erotic hairy muscular fantasy ever...and he smelled like 20 rotting corpses put together. I swear the smell was so bad it physically pained me every time he walked by me at the gym.

It depends if it's a incessant stink, but c'mon everyone smells once in a while.Give the guy a chance.

The last guy I had a crush on had such a smell that you would feel his stench from 6ft away. Still, it's the kind of thing I would compromise without complaining.

Smell is part of the attraction. It's the phermone thing that scent producers use to sell perfumes and colognes. A bad smell is a huge turnoff.

Depends, I'm sensitive to even light BO but I've put up with it. It won't stop me from dating someone but if I can't take the smell in close encounters I will let them know and throw them in the shower or just keep my distance. Bad breath I find harder to put up with than BO for some reason, usually people don't always smell bad but if someone has gingivitis that always seems to put off a terrible smell.

Would I date someone who smelled of b.o.? No. Why would anyone show up for a date smelling badly? Who among us can't find a shower and a bar of soap? And even if a guy is one of those who can't tolerate aluminum in deodorants - no problem - there are good deodorants without aluminum. I can't imagine why anyone would walk around smelling badly. If it is oral decay then it shouldn't have been allowed to happen. There are free dentists in many places. No excuse for anyone smelling badly.

If he literally smelled as bad as the question says - "just crawled out of a septic tank" - no. And I doubt many people would.
