    http://www.examiner.com/article/gop-official-says-god-chooses-to-bless-raped-women-with-pregnancy

The state of Missouri has been in the national spotlight recently because of comments made by Republican Congressman Todd Akin who claimed that raped women rarely get pregnant. After his statements hit the Internet, immediate outrage burned across the country. Akin later apologized, but his statements have rekindled a nationwide debate. One that republicans desperately do not want to have, lest they alienate a wide majority of female voters.

Sharon Barnes, a high ranking state Republican, came to the defense of her conservative colleague who she believes only "phrased it (his statement) badly."

Barnes was quoted by The New York Times saying, "abortion is never an option." Barnes went on to biblically claim that, "If God has chosen to bless this person [the rape victim] with a life, you don’t kill it."

Barnes did not elaborate on her views for post-pregnancy care, or costs.

Barnes has been a figure in conservative St. Louis politics for years, and currently holds all of the following titles according to her Linkedin profile:

President of The 2nd Congressional District Republican Women
President of The Republican Women's Club of St. Louis
Vice President, Membership Committee at National Federation Of Republican Women
Vice President of The Missouri Federation of Republican Women
Chairman of The St. Louis City Republican Central Committee
State Committeewoman, 4th Senate District at Missouri Republican Party
Committeewoman, 24th Ward at Missouri Republican Party
Volunteer at GOP Missouri Republican Party
As her comments become more known the GOP will attempt to spin Barnes' clout in the party as little, when in reality she is a big player behind the scenes.

Always remember when dealing with Christian Fundi Republicans in high government office on down to those Fundi's who blindly vote Republican. They are taught as Christians the words to an often sung religious hymn to "TRUST AND OBEY", "FOR THERE'S NO OTHER WAY", BUT TO TRUST AND OBEY"

With their full faith and trust in their god, its not at ll suprising that this unfeeling Fundi Republican would say that a child from rape is gods blessing, These people are taught not to question anything. To them events whether good or bad are gods will and they are only to "TRUST AND OBEY". NOT TO ASK QUESTIONS, THEY ARE TAUGHT NOT QUESTION GODS WILL AND NOT TO THINK FOR THEMSELVES.

When these people vote, they blindly vote for those candidates who most represent their Ideological picture of who 'god' would have in office for his will to be done. From there they just trust and obey with their republican vote, facts don't matter, reasoning doesn't matter, all is put aside for their ideology that god has his hands over all events and all his people, even the nations of the earth.

We should all have fear of this mixing of religion and politics, as well as this effort of these Chrisian Fundi's to 'bring our nation back to god'. THESE PEOPLE ARE DANGEROUS TO AMERICAN FREEDOMS.

She's not crazy: she's a mainstream Republican. This is what the GOP believes, folks.

They are putting anti-abortion rights language in the party platform, with no exceptions for rape or incest. The Republican vice-Presidential nominee Paul Ryan has sponsored anti-abortion rights bills with Todd "Legitimate Rape" Akin with no exception for rape or incest.

The word needs to get out: the Romney-Ryan Republican Party thinks that a rape victim should be forced to have her attacker's baby. These are not Lincoln-Eisenhower Republicans. The Romney-Ryan Party is nuts.

Republicans are the anti-freedom party. They want to control what women and gays do in their private lives.

Obama and the Democrats need to do a better job of talking about freedom, and about how the GOP is hell-bent on taking freedoms away from women and denying freedom to gays. Not to mention their antipathy towards students, seniors, workers, immigrants, and the poor.

That has been my one problem with the democrats and Obama. They hardly ever fight back and speak up for themselves. I love Obama, he is a great man and a smart man, but he does not stand up for himself hardly enough.

Remember this about the far right religious "MAINSTREAM REPUBLICANS" when you buy into their religious superstitions about the middle east too, These people are collectively little more than christian fanatics. and yes they are crazy, whether its regarding not aborting babies from rape, gay issues, or the Middle East, these people are dangerous with their ignorant bible beliefs, they produce nothing but trouble wherever their beliefs pop up.

You are better off not picking and choosing what you believe along with them, because their entire bible based Ideology is warped and bigoted.

How I hope Obama and the dems develop some spine, because if they don't, the lies told by the GOP, the christian fundi's and the tbaggers will be repeated more than the truth. The facts won't have a chance because most people are ignorant incurious sheeple who believe whatever is repeated the most.

I sure hope they keep it up too !!! The more these christian fundi / Tbagger types feal comfortable to say what they really believe, the fewer votes they'll get.

We should do all we can to expose their ignorance wherever it pops up, whether here on RJ or nearer home. If we are silent in the presense of a lie being told that swings votes the wrong way, then our silence gives consent and it stands in the place of the facts.

Pretty sure they're already doing a good job at showing how ignorant and irrational haha.

It's like every time I turn on the TV, they prove themselves to be a group of cultists just a little more than the time before. Ha!
