Something's wrong here - if they had 6 shot revolvers, it would take 8 cops 6 shots each to empty their guns; if it were 5 cops with 10-shot magazines, there should have been 50 shots. Police are all trained to be automatons and never shoot at anyone without being sure to fire all their bullets.

Sorry if this was over your head - but haven't you ever noticed that when a cop shoots anyone (like in all those suicide by cop videos we see on the news) he just keeps on firing?

Revolvers are hardly ever standard issue for police departments anymore. The most commonly issued/approved weapon is the Glock 17, a 9 mm semiauto that has a 17 round magazine capacity.

It's not surprising that an armed suspect would be shot 46 times if he were still standing and presenting a threat to officers. 9 mm is a notoriously poor stopping round particularly against a drugged up or deranged individual.

That seems really over the top. When the man takes a few steps towards someone, it seems those officers could have winged him or something to bring him down without killing him with a barrage of bullets. That really looked like overkill....no pun intended.

Some of the bullets missed their intended target...

Oh, that may be a little over your head, as some of the bullets may have been, in relation to the intended target...

Only 46? I guess the police are softening up these days.

Of course they could - but in my part of the country (probably no different anywhere else) official policy is always to shoot to kill if you shoot at all. Maybe this is because the police can't trust the ability of their own to shoot straight (although I am sure they can come up with a different official reason if asked.) At least it saves the states or counties the cost of jury trials and appeals and years of imprisonment. It is only occasionally that they kill some kid with a toy gun or water pistol. But, what the heck, mistakes happen. But if police are such bad shots that they take 46 bullets to hit some one - well where do they think the other bullets end up? They could be killing other bystanders - hell, even other police - and occasionally actually do. If they are intent on always killing the guy they are shooting at, why the heck don't they have and train with rifles - a hell of lot more accurate?
