I'd start with Woody's then check out the other bars around that area.

You can be lame and hot at the same time.

Thanks (I think). It's odd that I give MY opinion since I was born and raised in Philly but because MY opinion differs from the next person (who doesn't know me from a hole in the wall), I'm lame.

A place can be lame if you've visited, an activity can be lame if you've done it, and an individual can be lame if you know them. Since I've lived there and done that, I based MY opinion on MY experience!

I do fully understand that cyber chumps will always exist and have so much virtual courage to type insults that they'd never be bold enough to say in a real life setting!

To the OP: Philly is a nice city with a lame gay scene compared to other major cities that I've lived in like NY & ATL

I would check out Woodys. They remodeled the bar and its a lot more open. The bar now has 27 taps. For dinner: Check out Jones: http://www.jones-restaurant.com/ or if you want to go really hipster go to Standard Tap: http://www.standardtap.com/drink.html.

I would also recommend going to the Bike Stop: http://www.thebikestop.com/

Also a born-and-raised. Philly's scene (in-the-city) is pretty good where it exists but it is VERY concentrated. Which is actually good news if you're visiting on a short stay. Less so otherwise. For longer stays, you can head to New Hope, PA /Lambertville, NJ (with a date), or Rehoboth Beach, DE.

lock your hotel room door, don't answer for anyone. lock up your wallet in the room safe. if you're lucky you'll survive the night!

So glad I moved out of there. Lamest scene ever. But I will say go to ICandy. It's the best you're gonna get there but it's pretty fun. Don't bother paying the $15 cover at Voyeur for the extra hour of dancing when the clubs close at 2 am. Way over priced for what it is. Lunch at El Vez for sure but Parc is really good as well. Try their french onion soup!

Thanks for all the posts lads. Ironically, I got them all today, after I'd left the city but I'll be back on Saturday again before I head back for Boston.

I basically bided my time people watching around town and trying to scope out my first ever (gluten-free cheese steak). I went for dinner at Butcher & Singer which was perhaps the best steak I have ever eaten, I was talking to myself about it, aloud, as I made my way through it. Then I went to Chris' to hear some jazz and hit they hay. A tame, but very satisfying evo.

The hotel I stayed in, the Palomar give you a goldfish for your room if you're feeling lonely so curiosity did end up getting the better of me and I made that call down. He even survived the night.

I did pass the gay village, and that book shop Giovanni's you mentioned, Dayuum - all seemed very chilled - I might check it out on Sat. I'll be going to a Phillies game - whaboom!

In the meantime, I'm in Amish Country, so if you thought last night was quiet...

    Thanks for the tips ;)
