Were the budgets bigger or were they a hangover from the big hair of the 80s. Watching the episode where dianatroy is getting married. How come she didn't see that one coming?

The first seasons had a few style problems.

Especially with the first outfit for Diana, that whole cheerleader in space just wasn't a good look. Plus I much prefered the 2 piece jumpsuits of the last seasons to the 1 piece as well.

I don't remember any episode where Deanna Troi got married, I DO remember her mother Lwaxanna (Majel Barrett-Roddenberry) getting married in the nude in Ten-Forward in one episode. Could that be what you're thinking of?

BTW, Betazoids have no hair on their bodies. When Will and Deanna first met (years before the first episode) she invited him to a Betozoid wedding. At these weddings, the entire wedding party and guests go nude. So, Will did the same. Lwaxanna had never seen a man with a hairy chest before, and asked Will why human males had so much hair on their chests. His reply?
    "Gives us better traction!"

Actually I think he's refering to the episode Haven from the 1st season. First time we meet Diana's mother, she visit to enforce an arranged marriage between her daughter and another Betazed family.

Okay, now I kind of remember. That was the episode where we first met Mr. Homm. Don't remember much else about it, other than Lwaxanna chasing poor Jean-Luc all over the ship like a troll in a bath house!

The first season hair makeup in 1987 was a little wild.. I preferred the change in the 2nd season and beyond. The last season in 1993-94 it looked the best.

I remember that the face on the box in the beginning was done by Armin Shimerman (Quark).

Nothing worse then the purple jumpsuit she had to wear. The blue dress in the later seasons was pretty nice.

and I remember reading about the wedding scene from 'Imzadi'

I was a BIG star trek TNG guy. I even collected the action figures.

Just FYI, It's Imzadi. Yes, that's where the "Traction" remark came from. By the way, I'm lucky enough to be doing some visual effects for STAR TREK: PHASE II, a.k.a. STAR TREK NEW VOYAGES. It's their currently in-production two-part episode BLOOD AND FIRE, written by David Gerrold (The Trouble With Tribbles). Their episodes WORLD ENOUGH AND TIME, and TO SERVE ALL MY DAYS, star George Takei and Walter Koenig, respectively. They're really great, well worth downloading!

If you want to read about the effects I'm doing, follow this link...

Yea I remember that. I much prefer the one piece jumpsuit on her. Her mother was very crazy lol. And whoever said that about where she had an arranged marriage with the other betazoid(sp?) family, you're right.

I'm more of a Voyager fan myself, though I have seen every episode of every Star Trek series.

My partner has a case in the hallway filled with reproduction pewter Star Trek ships all the way from the original series shuttle to Ephram's first warp drive prototype. I often joke that that's what got him a second date.

I'm a fan, but the early seasons were not all that good.

It's being re-run on cable in the UK and I guess I must be watching the first season.

Everyone is very slim, Picard has hair (no that's a lie) and deanna troy is annoying. The storylines are a bit clunky.

You got the right episode by the way.

Yeah, Deanna was really annoying at first. "Captain, I'm sensing something..."

Yeah, it does seem to take a season before the various STAR TREK shows hit their stride. I watched all of Next generation, but didn't really feel it came together until Will Riker grew his beard.
At first I didn't like Deanna, Tasha, or Beverly Crusher AT ALL. I felt Deanna was always too "on the verge of tears," Beverly was too spineless to be believable as a Starfleet deep-space CMO, and Tasha was... well, Tasha.

But, while I did love Diana Muldaur's Dr. Pulaski, I must say that when Beverly came back, she was ready to kick ass, and I liked her more; Deanna was less weepy and more playful and caring; and Will Riker became a lot more relaxed and fun to be around after he grew the beard.
Unfortunately, they killed-off Tasha just as she was getting interesting. I'm glad she's stayed with STAR TREK, even if only on the periphery.
And once Jean-Luc started playing with the Dixon Hill stories on the holodeck, the show took off at Warp Speed. I miss the show greatly, and wish they'd do some more movies with Jonathan Frakes directing. As far as it was from canon, FIRST CONTACT was still one of the three best STAR TREK movies made.

One exception I want to point out: Sybok, Spock's older, renegade brother from STAR TREK FINAL FRONTIER.
While the film itself was pretty dreadful, I LOVED the character of Sybok, and I also think that they could have done a whole movie of just Kirk, Spock, and McCoy around the campfire in Yosemite. I still watch it just for those scenes and for Sybok.

"Mr. Kim, we're Starfleet officers. Weird is part of the job!"

I wish the DVD's weren't so expensive. Some of the worst prices for a TV show. Evil Paramount.

Dianas hair looked best on her when her DNA regressed and she turned into a frog.
