Madonna is not only a gay icon, she is a cultural one as well.

The inspiration that these women offer is valuable.

Thier pride, hard work and true talent is tops. They are the best at what they do.....they don't care if others may call them a bitch and do cartwheels around people who don't like them.

She's been great since she first hit the big time back in 1984. Always have enjoyed her music, especially from the 80's and early 90's.

I wonder if that torpedo bra will become as valuable as Judy Garland's ruby red shoes........

God love her! There will never be another pop icon quite like Madonna. I hope she never stops doing what she does, and always in a reinvented yet consistently likable style.

am I the only gay man that actually REALLY genuinely despises Madonna? Jeez. I don't know what the big deal is. Her vagina is old and crusty so what?

Is she still calling herself Ester? That might work now that she can finally join the AARP.

I'm definitely with you on that one. But I'll give it to her...that 4 Minutes song with Justin Timberlake had me dancing for about 2 weeks, then I got sick of it. Lol.

Madonna is a pop cultural institution!

Now before many of you start thinking I'm a stark-raving Madonna fan, I'm not. I do like her music, but I don't really follow the happenings in the music world today, including her. But I can't deny that many of her tunes have caught my attention, and I do own some of her albums. To this day, I still LOVE her song and accompanying (and inimitable) video for "Bedtime Story." Her immense contribution and influence on music is just extraordinary, and I still feel critics weren't fair to her to the eye-popping and gorgeous photographs in her "Sex Book" that came out in '92.

The woman is incredible, and I do look forward to hearing more from her.

    Happy Birthday, Madonna!

Whatever you may think of her music, and some of it has been great, you have to respect her for the fact that she's never allowed herself to be pushed around and she's made it in an industry dominated by men. And she's refused to disappear and become invisible like other menopausal women - Cyndi Lauper anyone?

Let's face it how many other successful women over 40 are there in the entertainment industry?

    Happy birthday Madge.

You know....over the MANY Madonna years I've vacilated between loving her, then getting bored with her work......then liking her.....then not likeing her stuff.........but....

After really listening to her latest work, I have to say......the gal is brilliant to put it all together.....the lyrics......the production.....the danceability.....good stuff........

God Bless Madonna and all of you out there that are like her.... not afraid of the standard crowd whinings...curious to press standard taboos....she is a mover and shaker.

I was always a fringe fan but my partner loves her. I'll be seeing her in concert for the first time on Sept 3 in Amsterdam.
