I have a very complicated and irrational fascination with Hello Kitty. I would be completely smitten to take a flight on such a plane icon_redface.gif

My friend would enjoy that airplane so much. Me on the other hand I don't see the big deal.

I wanna use Hello Kitteh for my next flight. icon_biggrin.gif

I like it; it's fun, colorful, and different. I wish more major airlines in this country would do something like that and think outside the box. For example:

    Finnair MD-11 "Santa Claus"

    Finnair A340 "Moomin"

    ANA B747 "Pokemon"

    JAL B777 "Samantha Thavasa"

    Turkish Airlines B777 "FC Barcelona"

Air New Zealand B777 "All Blacks"

Air New Zealand "Lord of the Rings"

Whats amusing is that all that paint adds weight to the plane, which means, more fuel it burns...I wouldn't be surprised if economy tickets are more pricier than normal Eva Air tickets

I'd love to take a Lord Of The Rings flight; or Star Wars flight any day... this... not so much. Kid stuff is an automatic killjoy in my book. Unless its just a nostalgic reference to past likes.

I have read that, although the weight of paint adds to fuel consumption, the fuel-cost savings offered by polished surfaces is outweighed by the cost of maintaining the polished surfaces. However, because this difference is a very small percentage of operating cost, many operators decide to paint or polish their aircraft based on marketing and environmental impact considerations. Some believe that a distinctive image can best be achieved with a full paint scheme, while others believe the image can be projected best by mostly polished surfaces. The availability of safe solvents and facilities that comply with environmental laws can also play a role in the choice between painting and polishing. I do not think a fancy paint/decal scheme weighs much more than a plain one, although apparently red is the heaviest colour by dry weight, owing to the amount of pigments used, and white soon gets pretty grubby, requiring extra cleaning (costs).

    Dontcha know..

Awww, I love Hello Kitty. I always wanted one of those toasters that burns an image of Hello Kitty into the side of the toast.

Asian airlines often have small subfleets of planes painted in wacky designs.
