What do people do to gain their sanity back when they feel like their world is on the brink's? I'm in a rough place at the moment and I feel like I haven't been my optimistic, out going, hyper self these past couple of weeks, and I'm trying to gain it back. Trying to find myself again... I'm just tired of feeling this, it's not healthy...

Do you have any children in your life....nieces, nephews, friends' kids? I always find spending time with children I love can really change my attitude and outlook. Their love is unconditional, their view of what's really important is refreshing, laughter is a lot easier and more genuine. You can't beat just having somebody who genuinely wants to be friends with you for no reason other than that they think you're a special person.

My other suggestion is volunteer. Find a cause that matches your interests and your talents and give a few hours every week. You'll find out the rewards are at least as much for you as the people you volunteer with.

First of all, it's very hard living in North Carolina. Also, we all go through periods of 'rough times' and feeling 'down and out'. Just concentrate on the things that make you feel satisfied and happier than you are now. I also agree with the previous posters idea of volunteering at a local Rescue Mission or some other charity organization. Seeing, meeting and interacting with others who truly do have it worse than you will make you take a look at the more positive aspects in your life. icon_biggrin.gif

I'll throw in being around dogs too - they have that same unconditional love although there is no laughter but still icon_smile.gif

You can't get it back until you resolve the issues you're dealing with. You've not mentioned them so I'm assuming that they're very personal.

I suggest that you consider seeing a professional if you have issues that are causing you depression and sadness. If it's just the daily grind, then I think many of the suggestions are great to just kick start your upbeat personality.

Hang in there. Life is a roller coaster and you just have remember that when you're up, you're going to head down but only so you can go back up again icon_smile.gif
