    Wool clothing at these temps. I bet these guys were melting in their uniforms. I often wonder what people were thinking in centuries past.

    possibly not...indians in the desert used wool to keep cool. Wool wicks moisture and dries quickly. Hopefully the wool is thin.

    Ahhh..Till they descovered how to weave and loom cotton properly..
    there is a reason summer clothes aren't made from wool!

    Great photos. It's incredible how much dedication and time are put into these reenactments. Great beards too!

    Wool is actually a very cool fabric to wear, however it's more easily damaged by excessive heat, and cold water tends to break the fibers down. The switch to cotton was made for durability sake. Much easier to wash and wear.
