Check out this video of what happened on the Repub convention floor earlier today.
    It's truly sickening.

What the hell is wrong with these Repubs?

    Absolutely disgusting!

There is not a day anymore (and that is not an exaggeration) that there is not some blatant example of racism, anti-woman remarks, or anti-gay remarks coming out of this party. Hate and bigotry seems to be their theme this year.

    Of course.

Republicans hates Latinos, Latinas, gays, women, students, seniors...basically anybody who isn't an old rich man who hides his money in offshore accounts to avoid paying taxes like the rest of us.

I'm Puerto Rican, and all I can do is laugh at these people's ignorances.

It's as if they assume that you speak Spanish, and you're not lily white, you're a Mexican. Doesn't matter if you're Puerto Rican, Cuban, Dominican, Venezuelan, Colombian, whatever. Speak Spanish, a bit darker skin tone=YOUZ IZ MEXICAN, according to the GOP'ers.

    Im sorry for you ignorance..

The overwhelming MAJORITY of the GOP and many DEMS (to be fair) think Isla del Encanto is a foreign country.. WHY do you think the Puerto Rico Tourism Office spends so much money in advertising reminding idiot statesiders that they need no passport?

And BTW my house is in Canovanas.icon_wink.gif

LOL! I've always find it a little amusing yet sad that many PR travel ads really emphasize that point.

Although you'd be surprised how many Americans think Alaska and Hawaii are foreign countries also icon_rolleyes.gif

    Don't come to Arizona.

I'm Caucasian, but have a tan...and was pulled over a few months ago for "inoperative license plate light."

In other words, I was pulled over for being too brown. Oh and I had a black guy in the car with me (was dating him at the time).

There was also an equally hideous anti-black incident at the GOP convention today.
    Check out this:

    http://2012.talkingpointsmemo.com/2012/08/cnn-republican-convention-black-camerawoman.php?m=1

CNN has mentioned the incident only very briefly.
You'd think they'd cover such a horrific event that happened to one of their own people.

Some years ago a friend of mine told me she and her family were going to Hawaii for winter break. She actually asked me if she needed to get a passport to go there. My soul kinda wanted to cry.

When I lived there tourists would always ask how to call "the States." I was like, use your cell phone. icon_rolleyes.gif

    Correction:

The guy at :28 is chanting:

    "Seat them now!"

So are the guys at :22.

The fat guy and others around him @ :35 are chanting "Point of Order!"

This wasn't a protest against Puerto Ricans. This was a Ron Paul supporter protest over the RNC's refusal to seat Maine delegations and the change of RNC rules that disallowed Paul delegates. The protests led into the next speaker, who happened to be a Puerto Rican for Puerto Rico statehood.

I hate to rub it in, but fact is that THESE ARE THE EFFECTIVE PARTNERS OF GAY REPUBLICANS. These white bigots line up along side gay republicans to vote for their own ilk, what's the gay republicans excuse for voting along with them to their own demise.

I agree, coolarmydude. This was the interpretation/perception and bad timing luck I read about yesterday on Joe.My.God's blog The Paulians were in revolt at the convention, unfortunately at the time of the entrance of the Puerto Rican delegate.

Not to deny there's plenty of racism and discrimination afoot.....icon_rolleyes.gif

Nonsense. Chants of "USA!" don't have anything to do with the food fight between the Paultards and the Mittens.

I really hate the fact that he chose a running mate named Paul.

Maybe I should get a legal name change to disassociate with that group of looneys. icon_lol.gif

    Correct.
The chants of "USA" and Priebus' reaction - plus the accounts of people who were there - make it clear that it wasn't just about the delegate fight.

There was a mixture of emotions being expressed in the convention hall and the idea that none of it was racial in nature isn't credible.

I didn't even realize until the end that the lady was Puerto Rican until Priebus mentioned it. She's white. Not sure why on earth they were chanting USA...strange...some delegate argument?
