Hey... ok so this might be a weird question...

I know with oral sex you should genrally minimise factors that may cause abrasions e.g. like flosing, brushing.

BUT I wear Invisalign (clear braces), and need to leave my retainers in for over 22 hours a day, plus I have to brush/floss any time I eat something (sigh)icon_cry.gif.

What do I do to minimise the risk of getting STD's, should I leave my retainer in when I su*k him? Should I just not brush/floss.........??icon_question.gif

    Any suggestions?

P.S, please don't tell me to ask my orthodontist, he happens to be my uncle so I can't really asking him about going down on a guy lol.

    Thanks.

Make sure he shaves his pubes so they don't get caught.

Is this a new form of trolling or what?

I think this is actually what Trolls try to embody but fail to... naivety.

I left mine in when I had them. Was quite convenient too, since they make your teeth much more forgiving if you slip up,

The entire brushing / flossing thing is around not causing trauma to the gum and mouth tissues before exposure to infections that are transmitted by blood.

Unless your braces cause trauma to your gums, mouth you can pretty much follow the same rules as anyone else - eg. give your mouth a chance to recover / heal before exposing it to any fluids that may contain bloodborne virus's or infections.

There's never any guarantees - and infections like gonorrhoea and syphilis can be spread without cuts and abrasions.

I would keep a travel pack of mouthwash handy so you can rinse and spit soon after any such event.

And we wonder why anonymous people stay anonymous on this site... icon_rolleyes.gif

My personal, non-medical advice would be to only do oral sex with trusted, long-term partners. I'd avoid brushing, or scraping you gums, tongue, etc before doing it. If your gums bleed a lot, you'll definitely want to give them a few hours before you give head. And dear god, don't teeth the guy... with braces... yikes...

Your uncle may be your orthodontist, but there is nothing wrong with anonymously calling another one to ask this question. I am sure you could find one that would answer the question without charging you a fee.

It is good that you are asking the questions instead of just making the decision in the heat of the moment. Invest in flavored condoms. Despite what you see in porn, giving a blowjob without a condom is not safe sex. There are other STDs you can get other than HIV.

(As a sidenote, the recent wave of bareback porn makes me cringe at what influence that is going to have on teenagers and young adults's attitudes towards condoms).

I really appreciate all the positive/helpful replies. Thank you so much icon_biggrin.gif

I think I might see if a guy would wear a condom, I've heard it's pointless though, as in he won't feel much?

After seeing that picture 'LIEV' posted I'm a bit scared now, I don't really want to be the virgin that su*ked for his first time and got AIDS icon_cry.gif.

If you called where I worked and ask this question, I would put you on speaker phone.. just sayin'

22 hours a day? Sounds like you have two hours of time to take them out, schedule your dick sucking time appropriately.

Depends on your skills. I've gotten great blowjobs from guys who insisted I wear a condom for their safety (I've never had an STD, but safe sex means assuming the other guy may have something, as you usually can't tell by sight alone). Not a bad experience because they were very talented, with super suction that got me off.

I also always gave my first partner BJs while he wore a condom, because he was HIV+. There are claims the HIV risk from oral is low, but I don't believe it's totally nonexistent, concerns centering on open gums. Plus there are other STDs you don't want entering your mouth. I'll admit to sometimes breaking the safe sex rule for BJs with strangers, but if I know for sure the guy is poz then a condom is required.

Incidentally, since all the stuff they coat condoms with can sometimes make me gag, and I didn't always have a flavored one handy (when I was still single), I'd try to wipe it off with a damp cloth before sucking, once it was in place. I still don't like the latex taste, but life is full of trade-offs, especially if life is important to you.

I had them years ago. It actually gives you a chance to be almost toothless for the guy. Just take them out afterward and rinse off with hydrogen peroxide or white vinegar. Or even just water, soap or toothpaste/mouthwash.
